2013 Milwaukee Arts Board Grant Materials Now Available Online

Click here to access the Milwaukee Arts Board grant guidelines and application for 2013! Please note that the postmark deadline for the 2013 Milwaukee Arts Board grant program is Monday, March 11th, 2013.

MAB will hold a grant-writing workshop on Tuesday, February 12th from 9:00-11:00 am at 809 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, in the first floor board room. Organizations that have never applied to the program or have not received grants in the past three years are strongly encouraged to attend. Please RSVP for this workshop to Lynn Lucius at llucius@wi.rr.com.

Please note that you must submit the application, the projections form, and all of the attachments listed in the checklist in order to present a completed application. You can complete the application online but you must print out and send one hard copy of the application, the projections form, and the attachments to the Milwaukee Arts Board (809 N. Broadway, 2nd floor, Milwaukee, WI  53202) with a postmark of no later than March 11th, 2013. Late or incomplete submissions will not be eligible for review.

The MAB panel review session will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, on the first floor of the Municipal Building, 841 N. Broadway, Milwaukee. As in past years, applicant organizations will be informed in advance of the approximate time of your review. Organizational representatives are encouraged to attend as observers.

In 2012, the Milwaukee Arts Board distributed grants totaling $150,000 to 31 local nonprofit arts organizations for a variety of arts programming, including music and theatre performances, visual arts exhibitions and artist residency programming for youth and adults.

The City of Milwaukee, through its Arts Board, with additional support from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funding from the State of Wisconsin, provides grant awards to nonprofit arts organizations located within the City of Milwaukee through a competitive grant review process. MAB grants are intended to enhance the development, cultural diversity, accessibility, and enjoyment of the arts in the City of Milwaukee.

If potential applicants are unable to access the online application, they may request a paper copy by calling the Milwaukee Arts Board at 414-286-5796. Please direct any questions to Lynn Lucius via phone at 414-961-0113 or via email at llucius@wi.rr.com.

Catch the Buzz: Milwaukee Plans Streetcar System for 2016

City of Milwaukee officials recently announced plans to begin construction on a downtown streetcar system as early as 2014. Routes will connect the Intermodal Station, the Third Ward, East Town, and the lower east side-- serving the greatest number of riders possible and providing significant opportunities for economic development and sustainability. In late 2012, Milwaukee was awarded a $51.9 million federal grant that will pay for the majority of the project.
