March 31, 2011

Dear ,

As promised, here is the Cultural Alliance's official response to the budget cuts proposed to the Wisconsin Arts Board. We will be sending this message to all Milwaukee 7 legislators, which includes State Senator Alberta Darling, co-chair of the Joint Finance Committee. We will be requesting a meeting with Sen. Darling to discuss the situation as well.

Please feel free to use or adapt any of this message if you choose to communicate to your state legislators. You can locate your state legislators through the Arts Wisconsin website.

I also want to remind you to check out our video interviews with Milwaukee County Executive candidates Jeff Stone and Chris Abele.

Finally, we're considering planning a summer event that lets you stay connected to your creative colleagues and takes advantage of our wonderful weather and activities. Let us know what kind of event you'd like to attend by taking our short survey. Your opinion matters, so let us know what you think!

Meet the Crew from Hipstamatic
HipstamaticHipstamatic is an amazingly popular iPhone app that "brings back the look, feel, unpredictable beauty, and fun of plastic toy cameras from the past."

I rarely gush over iPhone apps, but Hipstamatic is hands-down my favorite app of the moment. - TIME Magazine Techland

Learn more about the energy, creativity and hard work that went into making Hipstamatic and what's coming next for these rising tech stars (who are graduates from Stout!). The discussion is sure to engage anyone interested in mobile technology, design, photography and startups!

I Dream of Peace
The Bel Canto Boy Choir, conducted by Ellen Mundy Shuler, and the Vocal Arts Academy, conducted by Emily Holt Crocker, present the Milwaukee premiere of Robert Jager's powerful "I Dream Of Peace", a 20-minute work that paints a haunting picture of war, utilizing texts from children of the Balkans who saw their lives torn apart by war in the 1990s. The children's abhorrence of war creates a deeply moving emotional tapestry rooted in the universal longing for peace. The program also features Srul Irving Glick's uplifting Psalm Trilogy and other works.

Sunday, April 10, 2:00PM
Christ King Parish
2604 N Swan Blvd
