Meet our new President & CEO
Chris Koczaja, our new President & CEO
We are pleased to introduce Chris Koczaja, our new President and CEO.

Chris will lead LightWave Solar as it continues its pursuit to deliver quality solar power solutions across the residential, commercial, industrial, municipal and utility sectors.

While Chris will be leading the day-to-day operations, Steve Johnson, LightWave Solar Founder and Partner, will continue his work helping to ensure LightWave remains the trusted name for solar PV in the region.

Previous to his role at LightWave Solar, Chris served as PHG Energy's Chief Operating Officer, leading the company's design and implementation of novel waste-to-energy solutions that provided both economic and environmental advantages. He also worked for Caterpillar, Inc. having multiple responsibilities in both their Mining and Electric Power Divisions. While at Caterpillar he earned his 6 Sigma Blackbelt certification and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.

"I'm honored to have the opportunity to not only be part of the LightWave team, but to lead it into its next phase," says Chris. "Advances in the industry, even just in the last year, have made solar financially viable in places it wouldn't have been just a couple of years ago. I look forward to continuing LightWave Solar's dedication to its customers by helping them enjoy the financial and environmental benefits of solar energy," he says.

Welcome aboard, Chris!
LightWave Solar to Build NES 2MW Community Solar
NES Community Solar
Nashville Electric Service (NES) just announced the launch of Music City Solar, the city's first community solar program.

NES has contracted with LightWave Solar to build a two megawatt solar array consisting of 5,966 panels on the site of a former landfill in North Nashville. It will be located on 10 acres along I-65 on Old Due West Avenue.

Once operating, NES customers can "go solar" without putting panels on their own property. This is ideal for renters, homeowners with shaded rooftops, or any solar enthusiast!  As construction kicks off in the coming months, NES will finalize program specifics and proactively communicate the offering to interested customers.

"NES is proud to play a key role in constructing the first community solar array in Nashville," said Decosta Jenkins, NES president & CEO. "The Music City Solar project demonstrates the benefits of local partnerships to meet a growing interest in renewable power, and we are excited about increasing the amount of green energy in Middle Tennessee."

The solar array is expected to generate approximately 2.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, which is enough to meet the average annual energy needs of 210 households.

"We are pleased to see the strong interest in community solar because it allows TVA to partner with local utilities like NES to bring renewable energy to the Valley at the community level," said Tammy Bramlett, TVA's director of business development and renewables.

NES is one of seven utilities selected from among 13 proposals to participate in TVA's Distributed Solar Solutions pilot program.

Groundbreaking on the site is slated for late fall and the project is expected to start generating solar power by spring 2018.

Tesla Solar Roof - Is it Right for You, Now?
Tesla Solar Roof
As you might have heard, on May 10 Tesla began taking orders for their new Solar Roof. While there is a great deal of interest in this product, it may be best to wait before jumping online and placing your order. There are a number of factors to consider when looking at the Tesla Solar Roof:

1) Who will install it?  Tesla has indicated that they will provide installation services for the Tesla Solar Roof and will not be relying on local companies like LightWave Solar for installation at this time.

2) What additional costs are involved?
