Calling All Mustache Growers- Lend us Your Upper Lip!

Our fifth annual mustache
growing fundraiser, Mustachio Bashio is about to commence! We are calling on men of all ages to sign up to grow a mustache. Begin clean shaven on February 17th and, as your 'stache takes shape, solicit donations from friends, family, coworkers, and all those who appreciate a great 'stache.  Then, bring your friends and join us at City Table on April 1st at our Mustachio Bashio! Enjoy complimentary cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, general merriment, and of course, the much anticipated awards for finest mustaches. All the money that you raise will provide appealing and nutritionally sound meals for our critically ill, homebound clients across Massachusetts. What better reason to grow a 'stache? Sign up to grow one and support our meals program today

  New Nutrition
Education Programs

Two new nutrition-focused initiatives are underway here at Community Servings.

The first program is our Eating for Health Nutrition Ambassador Initiative to train Nutrition Ambassadors in the community. We teach staff of community based organizations to integrate nutrition coaching into the services they already provide for low-income individuals who have chronic diseases or diabetes risk factors, including obesity. We encourage these ambassadors to share their new expertise with their clients and other members of their community.

The second program is our Diabetes Nutrition Education Course, in which participants learn how to better manage their diabetes and eat right to promote good health. In a time when diabetes rates are soaring, our registered dietitian helps people coping with this serious illness by teaching them to improve the way they grocery shop, cook and eat. Healthier choices will lead to better blood sugar levels and enhanced overall health which may decrease complications that can result from poor nutrition, such as vision loss or kidney disease.

Proper nutrition is indispensable to a healthy life and these new initiatives are an opportunity for us to impact health outcomes in a fundamental way. Thank you to our long time partners, Covidien and Newman's Own for sponsoring these vital programs with generous grants.
