5 Important Negotiation Skills

Did you know that negotiation actually begins when one partner says "no"? According to this brief by TheMuse.com, most people miss the point of negotiation, and, therefore, miss opportunities. There are 5 clear and important skills to master if you wish to be a strong negotiator.
 
Obviously, Parent Center staff can use this information to brush up on contract negotiation skills. However, the same skill sets may also be beneficial to families and students. Much of IDEA is ambiguous on purpose. Because it is Individualized. That means the outcomes can be individualized too. Negotiation skills matter whether money or someone's future is the thing on the line.
