Each summer, Mission Central's Village Library hosts a short, six-week session for students. This summer, the session was used to welcome 15 new students to our program.
To help get the children excited about the school year ahead, the summer session has been filled with fun, educational activities. They've heard from people who work in a variety of careers, learned to build a soda-bottle rocket, and will finish the summer with a pancake party to reinforce what they've learned about fractions and measuring.
When school starts at the end of August, these students will join 40+ other students who come to the Village Library twice a week to receive help with their homework. To make sure these children receive the one-on-one assistance that will help them succeed in school, we need at least fifteen new volunteers to join us in the fall. If you have one hour a week (or more!) to help with the Village Library program, please contact Catherine Hollis at
