Sept. 14, 2016 - Back To School Edition #5

Schools are in full swing and the yearlong adventure has begun.  In this edition of the Falcon Flyer, you will find valuable information regarding emergency closings and delayed openings. (Hopefully we will not have to use them this year.)  Also important information about Back to School Nights is in this 5th edition of the Falcon Flyer.

I am encouraging parents to vow to be a major player this school year.  It truly takes a village and it is so important that we start the year off right.  Set high goals for yourself and your children.  The research is very clear that parents who are involved and engaged have children who continually grow and achieve.

Have a great week.

Important Information

Keep this information handy in the event of an emergency closing or delayed opening.

Please note that an emergency half day notice may be necessary. Please have necessary child care arrangements in place.

A delayed opening schedule means two hours later than the student's normal time. An early dismissal is approximately four hours after the start of school.

You have numerous options to learn about the status of the schools during inclement weather:
  • For school closings and delayed openings, you will be contacted via our emergency phone calling system using information you submit for our student database. In case of an emergency during the school day, our system will contact the primary and secondary phone numbers.

  • Register for the District's E-News, the Falcon Flyer. You will receive immediate notification directly to your email of school closings and other alerts.  You may register on our District webpage, www.burltwpsch.org.
