The Buzz By Willie Hunter

Emily Dickinson's Quiet Passion
It's the film about the interesting life of one of the most significant creative poets of the 19th Century. Now legendary poet Emily Dickinson's life is now up on the big screen for all to see in the new movie called A Quiet Passion . The movie is directed by British director Terence Davies - who himself was inspired to take on the project after reading some of the late great poet's work. Starring in the just released film are such names as Cynthia Nixon (Emily Dickinson), Jennifer Ehle, Keith Carradine, Duncan Duff Emma Bell and others.
Director Davies weaves a very intriguing story that's accompanied by very good photography. Through all of her struggles, loves, family, illness, and just the goings-on of life - Emily Dickinson manages to create an outstanding body of work that still resonates to this day. She was not truly recognized until after her death - which is often the case for many great artists. Hopefully this magnificent story - told in film will spark new enthusiasm for one of America's most talented poets. A Quiet Passion is the story you may have been waiting to see on big screen laying out more details about this talented poet's life.
Being somewhat reclusive and keeping mainly to yourself - makes for great opportunities to create - well - very good poetry. Emily Dickinson rarely left her childhood home in Amherst, Massachusetts. This a story beautifully told on film and the characters bring the story forth from the pages of history in books - to the big screen impacting even more of those who have read or studied her work.
