Today, MAEDCO and the City of Macomb participated in
Ameren Illinois' Open House for their new Macomb Operating Center at 1505 East University Drive. This $9+ million facility is the first new operating center to be built for Ameren in twenty years!
FUN FACT: There was over 8,500 yards of concrete poured in the construction of the operating center equating to roughly $1,000,000!!!
Governor Rauner vetoed SB2531 on July 29th!
This bill required any economic development council that received public money to include members of a labor council and persons from minority groups on its corporate board (free of member dues). This bill is one of three pieces of legislation passed by the General Assembly this year that impose arbitrary mandates on groups trying to further economic development in Illinois. At this time, no action has yet been taken on SB2600 or SB2604; however, the expectation is the Governor will veto them. The 99th General Assembly will meet November 15-17 and November 29-December 01 for its veto session.
