Greetings!

Congratulations all around for the Pierson softball and baseball teams. The baseball team earned the Long Island Class C Championship title and the softball team heads to Lake George on Saturday to play for the Class C State Championship. Good luck!

As the schools roll into summer vacation, Pierson may not be as quiet as usual. The school board approved the use of Pierson parking lots by the Peconic Jitney water taxi. Early next week we'll know if traveling overseas to Greenport will be a (temporary) possibility for the summer months.

Also on the horizon are elections. In the village, two incumbents and one new-comer are vying for two seats. At the state level Sag Harborite Fred Thiele has an opponent for the Assembly. Jeremy Brant, a native of the Harbor, has thrown his hat into the ring. It is nice to know that our village has so many civic-minded individuals in it.

The Lady Whalers softball team after clinching the Long Island Class C championship.

The Pierson Varsity Softball team came out strong against two challenging opponents at Heroes Field in Nanuet, New York on Tuesday. The Lady Whalers would be victorious in both outings, paving their way to the Class C State Championship game.

The (11-6) Lady Whaler's first game against the East Rockaway Rocks was a fantastic display of batting and pitching, as the team...

The company, which is largely financed by Hampton Jitney, will run a shuttle between Long Wharf and Pierson, allowing ferry passengers to park their cars in the school lots while they travel to the North Fork for the day.

The decision came during Monday's school board meeting...

Swimming Against Cancer

When Wendy Tarlow her partner, Claudia Patino Tarlow, welcomed their son Logan into the world in the spring of 2009, life was never more perfect for the Sag Harbor couple. A few months later, however, life would become all the more precious.

After battling with medical issues for the better part of three years, in July of 2009 Wendy was diagnosed with Follicular Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Little Boy
I stood silent and frozen in time as I watched a little boy shake hands with a very big man in a cap and gown.
