Mark 1:14-20.
When God Calls, Something Very Special is Underway
This Sunday in worship, the Good News reading from Mark 1:14-20 focuses on Jesus who is starting to call and enlist people to be his disciples and share in the task of carrying God's love, mercy and hope to the world. He starts with two fishermen who have no qualifications, no training, and have expressed no desire for a change. Jesus calls out "Follow me," and they follow! They were called because it is the very life of God to call people.
The call from God to people still goes out today - because God is still in the business of including, accepting and affirming people to carry out the essential work of Jesus to all the world. Come to worship, hear this good news, and be assured it applies to you, too!
