CEO Insight
I don't know about you, but I can't wait for 2018! I'm a big fan of civic engagement and there's no better time to get involved than an election year. We'll get the conversation rolling in January when we publish the results of our inquiry into City revenues and expenditures at our Business Summit & State of the City Address on January 26th from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the CARD Center. It's free, open to the public, and we want you there!
In 2018, our Anchor Business Listening Session series will expand to include Retail Roundtables to get to the heart of property loss and damage due to shoplifting. Not the most enjoyable topic to tackle but one that has emerged as a leading pain point in the feedback gathered on our business walks. While we can't change state law overnight - though we are working with CalChamber on setting up meetings at the State Capitol on the ballot initiatives now circulating - we appreciate our Police Chief's willingness to focus on solving local issues with local efforts.
Our 10-year Community Vision turns 4 in 2018! Hard to believe that what started as a single question at one Board meeting turned into a full-fledged community dialogue around standards, expectations, and resources for priorities like police staffing and roadway maintenance. Just today a business manager told us he had to replace two perfectly good tires when he hit a pothole on a major arterial road in Chico. Our streets aren't going to fix themselves, and gas tax revenues will be a drop in an overflowing bucket of infrastructure need.
We often talk about the Chamber as a "place" where business women and men can develop productive networks, mentorship, and leads - but the Chamber is also something very ephemeral. It is an ongoing dialogue happening in our community right now about making Chico the safest, most vibrant, premier city in the North state. Our Board is talking about it, our Ambassadors, our young professionals, our members, everyone. Let's bring it all together in 2018 by showing up, being heard, and casting our votes. I hope you'll join us.
Katie Simmons, President & CEO
Partnership Perspective
I can't believe another year is coming to an end.  Looking back at 2017 the Chamber was very busy!  We welcomed many new Community Impact Partners who made the choice to support our Vision to Move Chico Forward.
With the Holiday season in full swing I want to wish you all a happy, healthy and safe holiday! I look forward to what is in store for the Chamber and the Chico Business Community in 2018!

Seasons Greetings! Time is moving fast and the holidays push that clock even faster. My new favorite Podcast is Oprah Winfrey's Super Soul Conversations. In her intro she consistently mentions, "One of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself is time - taking time to be more fully present." So, I am sitting here at my desk taking the time to truly thank you all for your investment and engagement in YOUR community and YOUR Chamber. I hope you all take time to be present for your friends, family and yourself during this holiday season.
Just a reminder Chamber Business Connections will take place through December 20th and start up fresh Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Contact me should you wish to host in the new year! Cheers!

It is an evening we look forward to as we recognize the outstanding 2017 individuals and businesses who help make Chico so special!  In conjunction with the dinner and program, we host a silent auction. We are looking for businesses who would like to be recognized as a 2018 Silent Auction Donor. If you are interested, please reach out to Heather Ugie at hugie@chicochamber.com today!

Chamber Ambassadors
Am I the only one who thought the year flew by? I've been very thankful to lead the Ambassador program in 2017. I hope we were able to visit you during a Team Chico or Membership Walk. If not, look for us in 2018! We will continue to be the members in action for the Chico Chamber and look forward to another great year in 2018 with Valerie Coletti of Northern California National Bank as your new Ambassador Chair. If you want to join a group of professional men and women dedicated to our city who are in the know about the people, events, and activities that are moving our community forward, please email me, brett.bjacobson@farmersagency.com, or stop by our regular monthly meeting on the second Monday of every month at 12:00 p.m. in the Old Municipal Building, 441 Main Street.

Young Professionals Organization

It's hard to believe that this year is coming to an end and what an incredible year it has been! We've had a lot of fun in the 2016-2017 year with a great team of committed and passionate YPO Committed Leaders and lots of new faces at our YPO events. It has been a great year from our AG and Tech Panels to our mixer at Sierra Nevada Brewery and finishing the year off with our last Leadership Luncheon on December 13th with Ben Winter from Transfer Flow. We say goodbye to Loren Rainey from Golden Valley Bank, who has moved down to LA. Thank you for your loyalty and commitment to the Committed Leaders. We also welcome Angie, Calen and Brett to the Committed Leaders as Kelly Gibbons transitions to President for 2018! Kelly is going to make an amazing president and I hope you'll all welcome her with open arms, we are all so excited for her leadership.
Danie Schwartz, YPO President, Danie Schwartz Consulting

UPCOMING COMMUNITY SAFETY MEETINGS
Every month for the past 5+ years, Team Chico has conducted Business Walks in Chico to   find out what businesses need and how to support them with resources and services. These Walks spurred "Community Safety Meetings" between businesses and the Chico Police Department.

Businesses, property owners, and community members in the corresponding areas are welcome and encouraged to attend these free Community Safety Meetings.  No RSVPs are required.

Shown above is a photo from our November 9th Community Safety Meeting at Round Table Pizza Clubhouse on Pillsbury Road focusing on safety issues occurring in the North Valley Plaza area. More meetings are planned throughout Chico business districts in 2018 and we welcome your participation!
COMMUNITY IMPACT PARTNERSHIP
Businesses making an investment in our community
In addition to traditional membership, we now have four tiers of investment which allow businesses to support their own mission through the Chamber's advocacy work, economic development partnership, and targeted activities that benefit Chico's economic health and high quality of life.

Businesses choosing partnership will stand with us as we do some of the most important and influential work being done in our community right now, and will make a lasting difference.

Every successful community is built on a foundation of successful businesses creating jobs and economic possibilities.  And every successful business is built on strong and enduring relationships.  Through your membership or partnership, let's keep Chico businesses and our local community flourishing.   Call Kelsey for an overview, 891-5556 ext. 307
