Hello and welcome to News Happenings Around Town, your one-stop source for City information and news updates, including those items most important to you.

Labor Day Weekend is almost upon us. It's a time for us to relax, enjoy the fading warm weather and spend time with family and friends.

September will be an exciting month here in Blue Springs. We will be celebrating the completion of one of our 2008 Bond Issues, the Barbecue Blaze-Off, the Fall Fun Festival and The Wall That Heals arrival in Blue Springs.

I hope you will join us for the Car Cruise Night in Downtown Blue Springs on Saturday, Sept. 4 beginning at 5 p.m. or the Music in the Park doubleheader at Rotary Park on Sunday, Sept. 5 beginning at 4:30. Both events are free and open to the public.

I wish all of you a safe and happy Labor Day weekend and look forward to seeing you at the many events here in Blue Springs this September.

As always, please continue sharing this timely publication and spreading the word about what's good and going on in the City of Blue Springs.
Moreland School Road Extension from 19th Street to Liggett Road Ribbon Cutting

I am proud to announce the official ribbon cutting for the Moreland School Road extension from 19th Street to Liggett Road project. This project was one of the Blue Springs Bond Issues passed by residents by over 84 percent in 2008.
I hope you will join me on Friday, September 10 at 3 p.m. at the corner of SW 19th Street and Moreland School Road.

Minor Home Repair Program

The Minor Home Repair Program will begin accepting applications on November 1, 2010. The City is accepting applications until Friday, January 28, 2011.
The Minor Home Repair Program was designed with the desire to offer a program to assist homeowners who do not have the financial means to respond to code violations that may exist at their single-family, residential property.
The emphasis of this program is on neighborhood conservation, and only minor exterior home repairs will be eligible. The program encourages a high level of maintenance among property owners in a neighborhood by providing a grant to help cure the most visible home defects which may adversely affect the value of the home as well as surrounding properties.
