City Sets 2018 Municipal Taxes
April 10, 2018

City Council approved Edmonton’s municipal tax rate for 2018, resulting in a 3.5% increase.

The increase is attributed to:
  • 1.4% for neighbourhood renewal
  • 0.6% for Valley Line LRT
  • 1.5% for municipal services (1.0% directly for Edmonton Police Service (EPS))

“Property taxes enable the City to provide Edmontonians with a full range of services people use and depend on every day,” says Rod Risling, Branch Manager of Assessment and Taxation.

The impact of the approved 2018 municipal tax increase and utility rate increase on a typical homeowner ($397,000 assessed value) would be $2,468 or an increase of $83.
