-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

Indianapolis (April 27, 2017) -
The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), an internationally recognized provider of certification for safety practitioners, will hold a building dedication for its new, Indianapolis headquarters on the International Labour Organization's (ILO) World Day for Safety and Health at Work, April 28, 2017.

The ILO's campaign for the 2017 World Day for Safety and Health at Work focuses on the critical need for countries to improve their capacity to collect and utilize reliable occupational safety and health (OSH) data, a need that certified safety professionals have an important role in meeting.

"Accredited safety certifications sustain economic growth by proving the value of safety professionals who are skilled in minimizing risk, ensuring incident-free operations, and protecting the well-being of workers, their families, and the community," explains BCSP's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Treasa Turnbeaugh, CSP, ASP, CET, CAE, IOM. "Safety professionals are integral members of any team."

Speaking at the building dedication will be Vijay Krishna, Senior Director of Credentialing Programs at the American National Standards Institute (ANSI); Chris Patton, BCSP Board President; Timothy Maley, Indiana Deputy Commissioner of Labor; Rick Ruble, Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Labor; and Angela Smith Jones, Deputy Mayor of Economic Development.

The ceremony will begin with an address by Dr. Turnbeaugh at 3:15 PM.

Speakers will focus on the importance of certification to the safety profession, BCSP's early adoption of ANSI accreditation standards, the importance of safety to the state of Indiana, and certified safety professionals' contributions to the community.

The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 4:20 PM.
