The Chapter's holiday luncheon at the Hilton Arden West was a wonderful success with delicious food, outstanding member-donated raffle prizes, and time for attendees to visit with one another. We were also able to further support WEAVE by passing the piggy bank to reach our $500 goal and collecting many shoebox gifts for the organization.
Thank you to all who attended and shared in the celebration. We look forward to seeing you in 2017, where we hope to continue providing outstanding education, resources, and networking events.

If you want to earn your CGMP certification, there is an opportunity knocking at the door!  The class, led by national education queen, Garland Preddy, is set for March 2-5, 2017, in Oakland at the Homewood Suites.   Find additional details at

There are several surveys to share with chapter members. You are encouraged to respond to all, as each serves a different purpose for the chapter as noted below.

This survey will help gauge how the chapter is performing, in what direction the membership wants to aim in 2017, and prepare for new leadership.
This survey will be open until January 6, 2017. Responses will help President Gonzales prepare the "State of the Chapter Address" to be given at the January 12, 2017, chapter meeting.
#2 (2016 Silent Auction)
This survey will be open until January 6, 2017. Responses will help guide the fundraising team as they start designing the 2017 Silent Auction.

With the upcoming chapter elections, we would like to share about various positions on the Board. This is the second in a series and details what the current 2nd Vice President does for the chapter.
Current 2nd Vice President Marie Cicogni says, "My official role as 2nd Vice President is to stand in when both the President and 1st Vice President are absent. This position represents our Chapter's Suppliers and Associate Suppliers on the National Board, participates in quarterly regional conference calls, and attends Joint Leadership meetings held annually with the National Board and fellow Chapter Presidents and 2nd Vice Presidents at the National Education Conference.
Additionally, I serve as a committee liaison or chair (if needed) - and perform all other tasks as are needed or prescribed by the Chapter Board.  I currently oversee the Spirit Committee and Logistics for the monthly meetings.
What I have found is that I have been in the fortunate position to help wherever I can in the day to day operations of our wonderful Chapter - assisting our President and various committees as needed doing whatever needs to be done.  Though I have been a member of the Sacramento Chapter on and off for many years, this is my first experience on the Board - I am thoroughly enjoying my time interacting with our amazing Planners and Suppliers alike!  Our current Board is an amazing group of individuals and it has been a wonderful opportunity to make lifelong friendships! The professional and personal benefits of being involved at this level are way too many to list!"
*Specific committee assignments are determined by each Board.

The January 12, 2017, meeting's program will focus on leadership and how YOU can take a more active role in this chapter. Learn about what it means to be a board member, committee chair, and National Board Member.  Join us for an open discussion to answer burning questions and provide a forum to receive vital information in a fun and informative way.  See the website: for details and for registration.

Did you see your membership number embedded somewhere in the text of this e-blast?  If you did, please contact either Brenda Dobbert  (, or Dina Fong ( to claim your prize of ten raffle tickets to use at your discretion at a future chapter meeting.  Last month's complimentary seat at the Holiday Lunch table went unclaimed.  Don't miss YOUR chance!

In closing, we would like to thank  Edmund Price of E. Curtis Designs for another year serving as our Webmaster.  While not an actual "member" of the chapter, Edmund has been a valued team member since 2008 with the Communications Committee.  As such, he knows much about the chapter, our objectives, members, and events.  When not serving his clientele, he maintains an aviary with beautiful birds!
