SGMP Sacramento Chapter

The new board of directors had a very successful planning retreat, even though it was 107 degrees of sunshine at our host venue, the Gaia Hotel and Spa Resort in Anderson just south of Redding.

The Red Lion Hotel in Redding hosted the group for dinner, and several enjoyed the Sun Dial Bridge at Sunset.

The group melded together as a team to develop goals, objectives, projects, timelines, and a solid budget. With both seasoned and new board members, fresh ideas were flowing freely.

One of the most important decisions made was to "reimagine" the chapter. This goal is to refocus our chapter's energies, strengths, and resources, and then use these to provide great programs, celebrations, and inclusiveness to all members, be they in Sacramento, Southern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, or anywhere else in this state.

Committee Liaison assignments were determined, and those names can be found on the chapter's website. You are encouraged to get in touch with any board member if you have any questions or thoughts to share about any committees.

Chapter Meeting: September 14, 2017

Please note the new location: Delta King Hotel, Old Sacramento

Guest speaker MaryAnne Bobrow, CMP, Bobrow Associates, will share her insights for Bullets, Bad Guys, Fire, and Brimstone: Risks in a Changing World. Disruptive forces may be beyond our control but defining the role of the meeting or event organizers in assuring that their participants are informed and as safe as possible is not. We can't prevent every risk scenario, but shouldn't we prepare for threats even as we hope they never occur?

Where and how does the meeting professional engage in the process to ensure maximum participant safety? This session guides chapter members through steps in creating their own customized action plan depending on a variety of components that comprise the individual event.

This session has been approved for contact hour credit in the "Logistics" core competency.  Please register via the chapter's website: www.sgmpsac.org

The Silent Auction Committee is hard at work getting set up for the chapter's annual fundraiser, Mad Men Style. We want to see you, your spouse/significant other, as well as your friends and neighbors, lounging around the bid tables with a Martini in hand, on November 2, 2017, at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Sacramento!  In addition to what looks to be outstanding choices for bids and prizes, there will also be the special raffle for a $500 cash prize.

You should have received an email from either Cindi Williams or Marilee Moon-Vanni seeking your personal support. Every member is asked to help make this year's event a complete success.
  • Committee volunteers are needed,
  • Donations are needed,
  • Registrations are needed.
Online Registration opens the end of August, keep your eyes on the chapter's website for the opportunity to be one of the first to register. You won't be sorry you did! The first five to register will win a raffle ticket or two...
