Boerne Utilities Natural Gas Team takes the Gold!

Each year the Texas Gas Association recognizes member companies for outstanding safety practices.  Award recipients must demonstrate they have a safety program that incorporates hazard identification and training, as well as safety accountability and management support.  The city of Boerne was one of only two municipal gas systems in Texas awarded a Safety Achievement Award.  Nationally Boerne joined several other municipally owned gas utilities to rank first place in the American Public Gas Association Safety Contest as well.   These awards are based on the 2016 calendar year safety achievements and they draw attention to member companies that show an active and on-going focus on the importance of safety in the workplace.

Nothing is worse than sewer pipes clogged with wipes or other so called "flushables".  Sure they go down your toilet, but they do not break down in the sewer system and they cause very expensive repairs.  Please keep ALL baby wipes, facial cleansing wipes, napkins, paper towels, scrubbing pads, and feminine products out of toilets.
Boerne Water Utility customers are still required to follow the Stage 1 "mandatory" water conservation rules.  Most lawns in our area only need about 1" of water per week, so over-watering is just not necessary, plus it costs you extra money!

Animal care reminders
The City of Boerne Animal Care Services team is reminding pet owners, and those thinking of becoming pet owners, of a few requirements and suggestions for your safety and the safety of your neighbors:
  • All dogs and cats must be vaccinated for rabies annually.
  • They must also be registered with the City of Boerne. This can be done at most vet clinics or at the Animal Shelter on Esser Road.
  • A maximum of 4 pets (dogs and/or cats) per household are allowed in the Boerne city limits. A kennel permit is required for more than 4 pets.

Back to school rules at the Patrick Heath Public Library
Children ages 10 and under are not allowed on library grounds after school without a parent or guardian at least 16 years of age being present.  However, during library programming; children 8 years of age and older may attend scheduled library programs without a responsible adult.  Prompt pickup at the end of programs is appreciated.
Parents, should be aware that there is no supervision at all on the outside of the building; the woods behind the library are not a safe spot for children and teens to hang out.
All teens age 11 and older will be asked to sign a “behavior pledge” agreeing to abide by library rules.

Mosquitos just love standing water
Keep mosquitoes from laying eggs inside and outside of your home.  At least once a week, empty and scrub, turn over, cover, or throw out containers that hold water.  These can include vases, pet water bowls, flowerpot saucers, discarded tires, buckets, pool covers, birdbaths, trash cans, and rain barrels.
