Larry Woods celebrates 50 years in Texas tourism
The Boerne Convention & Visitors Bureau is honoring Larry Woods, its director of 10 years, as he celebrates his 50th year in the business of promoting tourism and hospitality in the state of Texas.

Woods’ career in hospitality began as a family affair—he helped his father with the river boats along the famed San Antonio River Walk. He became a River Boat operator and tour guide at the age of 13, just prior to the 1968 World’s Fair.
Council members sworn in for new term
Congratulations to Mayor Mike Schultz, District 2 Councilwoman Nina Woolard, and District 4 Councilman Ron Cisneros - they were reelected to serve another 2 year term.

According to Patrick Heath Public Library youth librarian, Constance Keremes the 2017 summer reading program is fueled with fun:

"Fasten your tool belts!  It’s going to be a STUPENDOUS summer!"

"Even the most reluctant of readers will surely be enticed by our scintillating schedule of events. Children can enjoy top entertainers, including Dinosaur George and Bonzo Crunch, Circus Clown. There will be arts and crafts, storytimes, and weekly science adventures too. We have not forgotten teens and adults, each of whom will find opportunities for enrichment through author visits, arts and crafts, and lectures."

Picnicing, water sports, disc golf, playground, fishing - what's not to like about Boerne City Lake Park?  Boerne residents can get into City Lake Park for free. Please come to the attendant booth at the lake and present one of the following for proof of residency:
  • City of Boerne property tax receipt
  • Current City of Boerne utility bill

County and out-of-county visitors will need to pay an entrance fee or purchase a season pass for use of the lake and park amenties.

Gates open at 5am and close at 10pm daily. The Park is open to the public 365 days a year unless there is a scheduled City event or if there are flooding concerns.

Sewer Smoke Testing continues in Boerne

Weather permitting, Boerne Utilities work crews will be conducting smoke test surveys throughout Boerne over the next several months.  This testing is a very effective way for crews to locate leaks, breaks and defects in the city’s sewer system.  Residents may see harmless smoke coming from the vent stacks on houses or holes in the ground.  The smoke is non-toxic and non-staining, has no odor, is white to gray in color, and does not create a fire hazard.

Mosquitos just love standing water
Keep mosquitoes from laying eggs inside and outside of your home.  At least once a week, empty and scrub, turn over, cover, or throw out containers that hold water.  These can include vases, pet water bowls, flowerpot saucers, discarded tires, buckets, pool covers, birdbaths, trash cans, and rain barrels.

Check out these tips from the Centers for Disease Control...
Wipes and pipes don't mix
Nothing is worse than sewer pipes clogged with wipes and other so called "flushables".  Sure they may go down your toilet, but they do not break down in the sewer system, and they cause very expensive repairs.  Please keep all baby wipes, facial cleansing wipes, napkins, paper towels, scrubbing pads, and feminine products out of the toilets.
