SUNDAY, JUNE 26th
CHILDREN & YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL
"RISE UP" TO NEW GRADE LEVELS
All Sunday classes and childcare groups will meet in their designated classrooms as indicated in left column on this page. Please note that children and youth can go to the Sunday school class that they are "rising" into for the Fall of 2016. For example, if a child is going to be in 3rd grade next school year, they are invited to move out of the 1st-2nd grade Sunday school class and into the 3rd-6th grade Sunday school class.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS
THANK YOU BRIGITTE AND DEB; TWO WONDERFUL TEACHERS!
On Sunday mornings, our youngest children at St. Mark's have been blessed by the loving care of volunteer and paid caregivers. Brigitte Colon is a regular Sunday morning caregiver that needs to move on from St. Mark's because of other employment needs. Brigitte's kind and gentle presence will be missed by many, especially the children and families who have come to trust and look forward to her care-giving. We wish Brigitte well as she moves forward in her journey of caring for children in her other work places. Thank you Brigitte.

Another familiar face in St. Mark's children's ministry is Deb Davis. Deb, among many other roles at St. Mark's, has been a monthly volunteer Sunday school teacher with the 3rd - 6th grade students. Deb dearly cares for her students and families and expresses that in her creativity and time shared each month in Sunday school. Deb is ready to move on and share her time differently at St. Mark's and we thank her for her amazing role as Sunday school teacher.

SEEKING A SUNDAY SCHOOL VOLUNTEER AND NURSERY CAREGIVER
With the leadership transitions in the Nursery and Sunday school, we have two immediate needs to fill. Please consider being a volunteer Sunday school teacher. Although we have a need in the 3rd - 6th grade age group, we welcome a volunteer for any age group. This is a monthly commitment that doesn't take too much time. A curriculum and materials are provided. All efforts are made to accommodate volunteers to make the experience enjoyable and meaningful.

A paid childcare position is open for the Sunday morning nursery. This position is on Sunday mornings from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm. St. Mark's is seeking a nurturing adult who can provide sound references and a love for infant and toddlers. This caregiver does not need to be a part of the St. Mark' congregation.

Please contact Bridget McIntyre if you are interested in these opportunities or know of anyone who might be interested.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
"PILGRIMS," 9:15am
The Pilgrims meet at 9:15am in Room 13. Come join us this week for a special presentation. All are welcome to attend!

This Sunday, June 26th: Harold Lindman will present a talk about French Gothic cathedrals. This enjoyable program was offered at eXtra Years of Zest (XYZ)  previously. Harold has agreed to repeat this talk so that all may have the opportunity to attend. You do not need to have attended Pilgrims class previously; all are welcome to attend.
Beginning Sunday, July 3rd and continuing on Sundays in July, the Pilgrims class will study the Old Testament using video lectures from Amy-Jill Levine of Vanderbilt University Divinity School. The goal of the series is to provide members of faith communities with richer insights into the literature that forms their bedrock. Each week discussion follows the video. All are welcome to join the video lecture and discussion.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
"NOMADS," 9:15am
The Nomads class is now using Anne Lamott's 2013 book, Stitches: A Handbook on Meaning, Hope and Repair to inspire their discussion.

From the Amazon page for this
book: What do we do when life lurches out of balance? How can
we reconnect to one other and to what's sustaining, when evil and catastrophe seem inescapable?
These questions lie at the heart
of Stitches, in which Anne Lamott explores how we find meaning
and peace in these loud and
frantic times; where we start
again after personal and public devastation; how we recapture wholeness after loss; and how
we locate our true identities in
this frazzled age. We begin,
Lamott says, by collecting the
ripped shreds of our emotional
and spiritual fabric and sewing
them back together, one stitch
at a time.

Come join these Sunday morning discussions on this theme of restoring wholeness with the Nomads. All are welcome to join us, even without reading the book!

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
"BIBLE BANTER," 9:30am
The Bible Banter Adult Sunday School class meets in Room 11 each Sunday morning from 9:30am-10:15am. The class uses the Scripture text for the morning's sermon as a discussion-starter.

We look at the passage in its larger context, and sometimes explore a bit of Bible-writing history. We offer some thoughts on what the morning's sermon might look like, based on the Scripture the pastor has selected. We leave time to discuss implications of the Scripture for our own lives, and often even delve into topics far afield of the morning's original topic. You are invited to bring some breakfast goodies into Room 11 and join the conversation.

ALL-CHURCH EMAIL AND BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS:
CHANGES IN COMMUNICATIONS HAVE BEGUN
EVENT INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
In an effort to be better stewards of our resources, a new document, published monthly, has been designed. "UPCOMING AT ST. MARK'S" which is separate from the bulletin, includes the announcements and information from ministry areas, committees, and groups. This approach will  greatly reduce the number of printed pages in the bulletin each week. It will also necessitate that all of us plan ahead. Please note the following submission deadlines for "UPCOMING AT ST. MARK'S".
Articles for August need to be submitted by Monday, July 25.
You may submit articles by e-mail to [email protected] , by bringing/sending them to the church office, or by reaching us by phone (812-332-5788).
GET YOUR COPY OF "UPCOMING AT ST. MARK'S"

The monthly "UPCOMING AT ST. MARK'S" will be available in the sanctuary each Sunday, at the Welcome Desk throughout the week, electronically at link below, and mailed to those who request them. Please contact the church office, or Mary Beth Morgan, with any questions. Thank you for your efforts, as we partner together in seeking to be better stewards of our resources.
