Big Fun! Big Food! and Big Fellowship = A Glorious Day!
St. Thomas Church Post Kick-Off Highlights
Sunday, September 9 was an inspiring day in many ways, as our parish,
young and old came together. We gathered information from 16 Commissions and The Bible Challenge to get to know each other better. Energy was high as children scrambled into the Undersea Adventure, got their faces painted and jumped in the moon bounce.

A delicious luncheon was prepared by the Hospitality Commission.
We continue to work toward our Capital Campaign goal, but as the Bitterman girls and Maddie Jameson unfurled the banner, we learned we were on our way!

Raising $3.25 million dollars, and annual stewardship for 2013 is up 24%. The people of St. Thomas' made this a special Sunday.

Many thanks go to the following volunteers for helping on Wednesday night, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday or all four to decorate MacColl Auditorium and/or cook, serve and clean up Sunday's Capital Campaign luncheon: Danielle Breda, Anne Campbell, Marj Daniels, Beti Derbyshire, Margaret Davenport (creative mind behind the tablecloth stenciling), Lynne Englebreth, Shannon Geist (flower arrangements and stenciling), Claire and Bill Krewson, Cindy and Ken Oliver, Bill Potts, Neal Pratt, Leah Riband, Chris Russell, Pam Serra, Kay Sheldon, Casey VonSeldeneck and Chris Wendt (helped with the summer planning). A tremendous thank you to Dianne Crookenden for her oversight and long hours, flexibility and good humor.

EfM: Education for Ministry
The Education for Ministry group at St. Thomas' is inviting interested folks to join them in the fall. EfM, a program of the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, is designed to deepen a layperson's understanding of the Episcopal faith and provide an opportunity to discover how to respond to the call to Christian service. Participants and trained mentors meet weekly over the course of a nine-month academic year, and enrollment is one year at a time.

EfM will meet on Mondays from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the schoolhouse auditorium on the church grounds. Tentative start date is October 1.

(215) 870-8797,

O Almighty God, who brings good out of evil and turns even the wrath of your children towards your promised peace: Hear our prayers this day as we remember those of many nations and differing faiths whose lives were cut short by the fierce flames of anger and hatred. Hasten the time when the menace of war shall be removed. Cleanse both us and those perceived to be our enemies of all hatred and distrust. Pour out the spirit of peace on all the rulers of our world that we may be brought through strife to the lasting peace of the kingdom of your Son; Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
