From the Rector
Dear people of St Peter’s,

Many thanks to all who stayed for the Diocesan Search Committee ‘Holy Conversations’. Thanks to the members of the DSC – Robyn Powers of Trinity Cathedral, The Rev Mike Margerum of St Paul’s Sparks, and The Rev Victoria Warren of St John’s Glenbrook and the chair of the committee. They are facilitating the process which will lead to the election of the next Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada. Having served in the past, I can tell you it’s a ton of work.

Tuesday February 13 is our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, 5:30-6:30pm in the parish hall. The men are invited to cook and serve. We’ll need griddles to expedite the evening. Vestry will adjourn to the Library at 6:30pm for our monthly meeting. We’ve invited Coventry Cross Minden to join us.

Wednesday February 14 is Ash Wednesday & Valentine’s Day. The 10am service will be dedicated to the Imposition of Ashes, the Penitential Litany & Eucharist. We may be doing ‘Ashes To Go’ during the day some time, and a 6pm Ecumenical service at 1st Methodist.

The Lenten Lunch program begins Sunday February 18 through Sunday March 18 for five weeks, 11:45am-1:15pm in the parish hall. Bring soup or salad or bread to share. This year we’re looking at spiritual and mystical experiences through the Scriptures, with Pam Ertel leading Godly Play and Hallie Murphy leading Theological Reflection. I’ll be the class clown.

Be well and whole in the coming days of Lent.

And thank you to everyone who joined us on Sunday! If you were not able to attend, we still have feedback cards available you can fill out. The committee is using these gatherings in their search for the next Bishop of Nevada.

A prayer as we seek the 11th Bishop of Nevada
Lord Jesus, good shepherd of our souls, govern and direct your Holy Church and especially this diocese of Nevada as we choose a new bishop to lead and care for your people. Guide the minds of the members of our Standing Committee and Search Committee that we may receive a faithful servant who will support us in our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Bits & Pieces of St. Peter's History

The small brick house next door to the church, built in 1862, was
purchased by St. Peter's in 1891 to be used as the Rectory. The cost
was $3,500 and the Women's Guild spent an additional $1,000 for repairs and furnishings.
