Business Consulting Services
Available for Chamber Members

In collaboration with the Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is offering local business owners free, individual and confidential consulting services.

The Chamber has secured Debbie Graham to spend the first and third Tuesdays of each month assisting our members. Debbie is a veteran business consultant with the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center based in Brunswick. She provides confidential professional guidance, experienced insight, practical solutions and essential skills for business owners.

The SBDC is a University of Georgia public outreach unit that provides business and economic development assistance. The mission of the SBDC is to enhance the economic well-being of Georgia citizens, and to support entrepreneurship and business expansion through business consulting and educational opportunities that address the management, human resources, technology, capital formation and infrastructure needs of the business community.

Examples of recent assistance include guidance in developing a business plan with cash flow projections to be utilized for a small business loan; creation of a 6 panel brochure for marketing purposes; evaluation and improvement on business Facebook and website pages; and strategic planning and development for future growth.

With any questions, contact Debbie Graham in Brunswick at 912-264-7343, or appointments are available by calling Angela Manders at the Pierce County Chamber of Commerce 912-449-7044.

PC Nutrition Department
August Opportunity Tour
Every business owner can learn a few things from Rhonda Cooper and the staff of Pierce County Schools Nutrition Department! Working within strict budgetary constraints and federal mandates, our Nutrition Department's efficiency, systems of operation, and cost and marketing analysis strategies set the standard for other for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.

On August 28, a group of 15 community leaders and business owners were given the opportunity to spend time with Rhonda Cooper and learn how she and her staff manage to prepare 4,000 appetizing and healthy meals every day! During our exclusive, high-energy tour, we learned many business essentials which can be applied to any industry concerned with producing and marketing products its customers want at the lowest cost and in the most efficient manner all while following strict state and federal regulations.

During our tour of the beautiful and immaculate Blackshear Elementary and Pierce County High School cafeterias, we were greeted by student and faculty ambassadors, shown the behind-the-scenes operations, allowed to help serve the children, given budget, history and demographic information, and served a delicious lunch!

Of all the fundamental principles of business exhibited by the Nutrition Department, the most impressive and pervasive practice is excellent customer service. Spend a few minutes with these professionals and you will soon realize the customers - Pierce County's children - always come first.

Special thanks to Rhonda Cooper, Director of Nutrition
Services; Beverly Bagley, BES Nutrition Manager; Dana
Daniels, PCHS
 Nutrition Manager; Terri DeLoach, Superintendent
; Anita Harris, BES Assistant Principal,
 Dara Bennett, PCHS Principal
