National Volunteer
Appreciation Week!

April 22nd -April 27th

We rely on 300 volunteers weekly to prepare and deliver over 8,000 lunches and dinners to the homes of 830 individuals and families who are homebound with an acute life-threatening illness. The cumulative dedication of our kitchen and delivery volunteers, donating 65,000 hours of service each year, is equivalent to 30 full time employees! In addition to kitchen and delivery volunteers we also value the hundreds of volunteers who help with our fundraising events including Pie in the Sky, Mustachio Bashio, and LifeSavor.

To celebrate our amazing volunteers we're hosting a week-long event! Each day of volunteer week includes special lunches prepared in our kitchen, raffle prizes and many other fun activities! Check servings.org, facebook and twitter for more information!

Volunteer Profile:

Nuris and Josman

Nuris and her son, Josman, volunteer in our kitchen every morning. Nuris, who has volunteered for over 5 years, has assisted with both meal preparation and delivery.  Her experience on the delivery vans remains an inspiration to her each morning she is in the kitchen. Josman began volunteering because he saw how much his mother enjoyed the community in our kitchen. After six months of regular volunteering, Josman applied to the Community Servings' Teaching Kitchen Program to pursue a career in the food service industry. Nuris and Josman are wonderful examples of how the Community Servings Volunteer Program seeks to create a welcoming atmosphere that is rewarding for our volunteers, while being a vital part of our meals program. Josman said that anyone interested in volunteering with us should, "come down and try it, it's great here!"

We have once again been awarded a coveted four-star rating for our efficient and effective business model for providing nutrition services to the critically ill by Charity Navigator, America's premier independent charity evaluator.
