"Community Servings of Boston: A Successful Counterintuitive Approach to Growth Amid Constraints" -
By CEO, David B. Waters; published in the nonprofitquartly.com

Thank you!

To Simon Pearce for donating 20% of their proceeds from the Royalton Pine Cone Bauble in support our meals program.

To The Harvard Book Store for donating a portion of their sales throughout December to help support our meals program.

To the Holiday Basket Makers and Holiday volunteers! Together you brought holiday gift baskets and meals to over 875 of our critically ill clients.

Welcome Kevin Conner-
our new Executive Chef!

"I love what we do, I love how we do it."

Kevin Conner's

passion for

Community Servings' food and nutrition program is truly inspiring. As a graduate of Johnson & Wales Culinary Arts Program and a professional chef for 15 years, Kevin has the experience and expertise needed to run our kitchen producing up to 4,000 meals per day. Before joining the staff of Community Servings, Kevin was Executive Chef at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

A year ago Kevin was hired as the Kitchen Manager to run daily kitchen operations and prepare high quality food for our clients. "When I learned about the open position in the Community Servings' Kitchen, it was an easy choice to come here," said Kevin. "It was just the opportunity to fulfill my desire to give back to the community."

Promoting Kevin to Executive Chef was a great way to acknowledge his commitment and enthusiasm for the agency. In Kevin's expanded role he will work with our Registered Dietitian to create medically tailored menus, oversee the job training students' introduction to our large scale professional kitchen, and manage the purchasing of the highest quality food, while soliciting donated local foods.

"This is a very exciting promotion for me. I love the energy that the staff and volunteers bring to the kitchen. In this new role I want to continue to give positive energy so we can translate that into the food."

A Heartwarming Letter
from a Family Member

Recently we received
a letter, along with a generous contribution, from *Jocelyn, whose son died from AIDS in 1994.

"When I write a check
to you folks, I think
of me, very tired
(and working) making meals for my sick son."

Jocelyn can't imagine what it would've been like for her family if she wasn't healthy and able enough to provide him with the nutritious meals he needed.

"You guys are a blessing! Thanks for all you do," she writes.

Critical illness not only affects the individual but his/her loved ones too. That's why Community Servings provides meals for our homebound clients, their families and a caregiver, sending the message that someone cares.
