Fall into October with ACEnet!
  Let's Meet Some Entrepreneurs!

In December 2014, Larry Fisher and Marcus Bratton trained new producers Walter and Rosesmary Brempong of TEO Food Business on the Food Ventures thermal processing equipment. Their all natural product, Sheito hot sauce, is a pepper sauce with roots in Ghana.

Now, less than 1 year later, they're opening TEO African Restaurant in Columbus, Ohio! Located at 1784 E Dublin Granville Road, TEO African Restaurant will be specializing in flavor filled African dishes, including dishes with chicken, fermented potatoes, and many many other wonderful ingredients! Here at ACEnet we're very happy for the Brempongs!!

Natures Magic owner, Danielle Young, became an ACEnet Tenant in April of 2013. Danielle creates natural, biodegradable, cleaning products. She focuses on ensuring that products used in home cleaning are good for the earth, and healthy for the inhabitants and cleaners. She utilizes essential oils and plant-based ingredients which are highly effective and provide long term health and wellness benefits in addition to containing  antibacterial and germicidal properties expected from a cleaning agent.
Danielle began Natures Magic in 2008 as a home-based business. She requested ACEnet's assistance to scale up her business capacity and gain access to wholesale and retail markets. ACEnet provided manufacturing space and helped Danielle develop her packaging and product label. Since then the Nature's Magic cleaning product line has taken off! You can find Danielle's products in many local stores including Kroger, Seaman's Cardinal Grocery, The Village Bakery, Friendly Paws, The Farmacy, and Busy Day Market in Athens. In addition, many local businesses such as Avalanche Pizza and the Phresh Press Panini food truck utilize these all natural cleaning products! Nature's Magic can also be various locations in Columbus and Toledo as well, including Bexley Natural Market, Celebrate Local Easton Market, Kroger and Organic Bliss. Please visit her website for a full list of retailers or to order online!

October Product of the Month!

"I had no idea things would go in this direction. It's been a wild ride and I have a feeling we've got a wild ride ahead of us as well. It's been beyond expectations."

Art Oestrike offered those words when asked if he ever envisioned the success that Athens brewery Jackie O's would have.

The business offers more than 100 different beers including five core products. One of those core beers is Chomolungma and is featured as the October Product of the Month in the yearlong partnership between The Messenger and the Appalachian Center for Economic Networks. This month's feature is sponsored by Athens Insurance.

Oestrike has a conscientious business model that focuses on using local resources whenever possible and catering to local needs.

Upgrades at ACEnet!

Raise the roof! ACEnet's Food Venture Center on our Athens Campus is in the process of having a new roof installed! The project began Monday, October 5th and should be finished early next week. Even though there is construction on the rooftop, everything at ACEnet is business as usual thanks to the skill and professionalism of the guys from Danny's United Construction, LLC (locally sourced from The Plains, Ohio)

The Food Venture Center also had 2 new heavy steel doors installed earlier this week, and the corners inside our commercial kitchen are now more impact-resistant thanks to our facilities folks installing bright yellow bumpers.

Kroger Community Rewards Program!

From 5/01 - 7/31 ACEnet earned  $143.71 from customers just like you through the Kroger Community Rewards Program! Have you chosen a nonprofit to benefit from your grocery shopping at Kroger yet? You can help us here at ACEnet in our mission to expand economic opportunities in the Appalachian Ohio region without spending anything other than what you were already going to spend on your groceries!
