THIS WEEK IN APBA RADIO SHOW

APBA has began to sponsor a weekly broadcast offering insights into the game of APBA and players within the APBA community.  The host is John Asalon who offers a extremely professional broadcast.  Please join John Asalon and his guests every Thursday night at 8:00 pm (Eastern) for THIS WEEK IN APBA radio show.  John's guest this past week was Ray Dunlap.

This past week Ray Dunlap joined John Asalon and on TWIA's weekly broadcast to discuss the 2017 Super Bowl Pre-Play..  Ray is an APBA Hall of Famer, APBA Football expert, and past Head Statistician of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Today Ray is the President and CEO of Ray Dunlap Associates a wealth management firm.

Ray began by starting with his introduction to APBA which occurred through the purchase of an APBA Golf Game at a rummage sale for $0.50. When Ray returned home he opened the box to a golf game and several full color brochures including football and baseball. He then purchased baseball followed by football for a Christmas gift. He was hooked! Ray said he plays baseball and football equally although most think of him as a football guy. Ray is a member of the Suncoast Football League which has been in existence for 40 plus years. Ray then discussed his time as Head Statistician of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers which was highlighted by being the Head Statistician for the 1984 Super Bowl which was held in Tampa. This job provided Ray with statistical insights which were not routinely published, and enhanced his APBA Football experience. Ray has also contributed to APBA Journal articles and promoted the growth of football gaming at the APBA Convention. These accomplishments resulted into Ray's induction into the APBA Hall of Fame Class of 2015.

Ray then discussed the 2017 Super Bowl Pre-Play experience that he and four other APBA enthusiasts played (Greg Barath., Denny Hodge, Doug Reese, and Mark D.). New England won all five games by an average score of New England 31 and Philadelphia 21. Individual game scores were: RAY: NE 30 PHL 13, GREG: NE 48 PHL 44, DENNY: NE 30 PHL 24, DOUG: NE 21 PHL 17, and MARK: NE 27 PHL 9. Ray thanked all the guys for their participation in advance of the big game on Sunday.

This author personally knows Ray and his dedication to APBA, the APBA community, and especially to the game of APBA Football. Great job Ray, thank you for all your contributions, and I will see you in Alpharetta my friend.

John's scheduled guest for the live February 8th show will be Jim Sce discussing fifty years of APBA experiences and friendships.  Be sure to tune in to hear the discussion and also get the latest information about APBA.
