Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce names Adrienne Andrews the 2017 ATHENA Award Recipient
Adrienne Andrews, Chief Diversity Officer at
Weber State University
, and 2017 ATHENA Leadership Award Recipient, presented by the
Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce
Adrienne Gillespie Andrews was selected as the first ever Chief Diversity Officer at Weber State University in May 2015.
Andrews earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with minors in Ethnic Studies and Spanish in 1993 from the University of Utah (U of U). While there,
Andrews has worked in a variety of government, higher education and non-profit capacities including as the Director of the Center for Youth Policy and Programs for the State of New Jersey; Staff Associate in the New Jersey Department of State; Political Science Instructor at Rutger's; Women's Studies Instructor at MSUM; graduate associate and research associate at the Eagleton Institute of Politics and Center for American Women and Politics; among other positions.
A native Utahan, Andrews was raised in Davis County and has a long history of advocacy in social justice and inclusion work with a special capacity for community building, making her an excellent fit for this exciting position. Andrews currently serves as a member of the Utah Governor's Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Rights Commission and has previously served on the Boards of Catholic Community Services of Northern Utah and for the American Red Cross of Northern Utah where she chaired the Celebration of Heroes fundraiser.

Nannette Nocon, private wealth adviser for Nocon &
Associates, Ameriprise Financial Services Inc., received the 2017 Athena Award at a luncheon Thursday.
More than 800 people attended the event honoring Nocon and the other finalists at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
In accepting the award, Nocon said she thought of herself as "Rochester's adopted daughter," as she was born in the Philippines. She immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager with her mother and four siblings.

enter, past board member of the Little Theatre, past board member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Inc., past board member of the United
Way of Greater Rochester Inc., past board member of the Friendly Home, and past board member of the Rochester Area Community Foundation. Nocon is a board member for WXXI and a host and producer for the "It's About Money" segment for PCTV.
The Women's Council also honored Melisza Campos, Dale Carnegie vice president of operations and instruction master trainer, with the third annual Athena Young Professional Award.
As she accepted her award, Campos thanked her family and her mother in particular, saying that "the apple didn't fall far from the tree" and crediting her mother's example as a strong influence.
Campos is a former commissioner of Rochester City School District, board member of the United Way of Greater Rochester Inc., board member for WXXI, council member for SUNY Geneseo College and Frederick H. Minett professor for RIT.

Women's Chamber of Commerce of Nevada Presents 13th Annual ATHENA Award
The Women's Chamber of Commerce of Nevada celebrated the 13th Annual ATHENA™ Leadership Awards being held on in Las Vegas. The theme for this event is "Achieving Your Dreams through Education." The Athena International Awards Black Tie Gala is a fundraising this year with net proceeds going to benefit women and "At Risk" female high school graduates in way of scholarships for higher
education and postsecondary education through the WCCNV Legacy foundation 501(c) (3) charity.
The ATHENA Leadership Award was presented to Karla Perez.
In her current role, Karla provides oversight to the operations of Spring Valley, Summerlin, Desert Springs, Valley,
Centennial Hills, Henderson Hospital Medical Centers in Las Vegas, Desert View Hospital in Pahrump, and Northern
Nevada Medical Center in Sparks, Nevada. Karla has worked in the Las Vegas co
mmunity for over 30 years, beginning
her career in 1983 as a medical record clerk at Valley Hospital. Through the years, she assumed a wide variety of duties
ranging from business development to overall hospital operations.
These responsibilities have allowed her to advance her
career with numerous
promotions over the years to her previous positions as CEO of Desert Springs Hospital and Spring
Valley Hospital. In those roles, she was named to the 2002 UHS Chairman's Council, a recognition reserved for the
top CEOs in the company. She rep
eated that recognition again in 2006 and in 2007. She was also the recipient of the
Eagle Award from Universal Health Services, an award given to CEOs for achievement of excellence
ATHENA Young Professional Leadership was presented to Angela Go of
Piercy Bowler Taylor & Kern, CPAs.
Ms. Go is an audit manager with the firm Piercy Bowler Taylor & Kern. She has been with the firm since September 2006 and prior to that worked in the retail industry for 13 years, several of those years were in management positions. She is involved in audit, review, compilation, and other attest services for a wide-range of clients in the government, not-for-profit and casino resort industries, and has significant experience in grant compliance auditing
. Ms. Go has experience in financial statement preparation and accounting research for a wide variety of clients. She has been involved extensively in audit and other attest function and accounting services. Ms. Go is originally from Chicago and graduated with honors from Wilbur Wright College with her Associates in Science (pre-pharmacy emphasis). In 2006, she graduated with honors from the University of Phoenix, Las Vegas, with a BS in Business Administration (accounting emphasis).
