Learning How to Learn
As a classical liberal arts academy, we know how important content is for young children. The stories, images, songs, and ideas our students ingest today will help shape who they are tomorrow, and we want to be sure we are filling our children with the best things. We also know that learning itself is a skill. If we teach kids
how
to learn, their learning will be more efficient and more lasting. All of teachers this year read a book titled
Make it Stick
, and we have had good discussions about how to implement strategies that have been proven by research to help kids learn. Parents play a crucial role in homework at the grammar stage, and many of these strategies are best implemented individually at home. I encourage you to take a look at this book and consider using some of the ideas therein with your children. Happy reading!
