Finish of the Month Adding beauty to any surface
LusterStone - Custom finish This is a wonderful finish creating multi-layers of LusterStone and then adding a beautiful stencil with LusterStone. Supplies: - LusterStone - TintBase and Cocoa Chocolate
- FauxCreme Colors: Turquoise and UltrMarine Blue
- Japanese Trowel
- Artistic Painting Stencil - APS1007 Valencia Floral Border
Instructions: - The wall surface area needs to be a smooth finish - if not, use TexturFil to create a smooth wall surface.
- Custom tint the TintBase LusterStone with FauxCreme Colors - Turquois and UltrMarine Blue - create the darkest value you want, which in this case was still pretty light - then for each layer, I kept adding tintbase to lighten it a shade....making three different shades of the same color.
- Trowel on the first layer of Custom tinted LusterStone - apply 100% coverage creating slight movement to for interest.
- Use second color (tinted slightly lighter using tintbase) - apply 75-80% coverage in a random skip trowel technique, creating beautiful movement and interest.
- Use third color (tinted slightly lighter than 2nd color using tintbase) - apply 100% coverage, pull tight to create a beautiful "luster".
- Allow to dry
- Using the Valencia Floral stencil - pre-register the wall so that you can stencil everyother repeat and stencil with the Cocoa Chocolate LusterStone. Allow repeats to dry and fill in the missing repeats.
Have fun creating custom colors and matching your room decor. For more detailed instruction in these products - please check my class schedule for hands on instruction. |
