HOMERUNS FOR HUNGER WITH THE CRUSHERS

It was a beautiful evening on June 26th for our annual Homeruns for Hunger event with the Lake Erie Crushers.  We were able to sell 300 tickets and had a fun 50/50 raffle. Many of those in attendance also donated paper goods for our pantry. Overall, the event raised $1,400 to benefit CRS clients.

Thank you to all those in attendance at the game!

HOOKS FOR HUNGER

A great big thank you goes out to the  group of local fishermen and the Avon Lake Parks and Recreation Department, who together hosted the 2nd Annual "Hooks for Hunger" Charity Walleye Tournament on July 5th.

The community response to this event was amazing, and they were able to raise approximately $7,000 for CRS!

More than 110 fishermen took part in the tournament. Kevin Lukehart caught the biggest fish weighing in at 10.91 pounds.  Ronnie Rhodes was the overall winner with his top five fish totaling 36.4 pounds.

The planning committee of Ed Moran, Joe Reitz, Scott Bruegger, Sean Boutin, Brian Belmont, and Tom Murphy did all the work in organizing this popular event, with lots of help from local businesses and community members.

The CRS Board of Directors is very appreciative to everyone who supported this event! Thank you!

SCHOOL KIDS FREE LUNCH PROGRAM

The Avon Lake Ministerial Association is comprised of several local churches that have historically joined together to provide our community with cooperative worship and service opportunities.

Currently, they are providing a healthy lunch to area kids in need (those who are eligible for the reduced/free lunch program).  Lunch will be available on Wednesday, July 23rd at Westview Elementary from 11 AM to 1 PM.

Please spread the word to those families you know need a little help feeding their kids healthy meals during the summer months.
