Welcome Back!

I hope you all had a great summer of fun, sun, family and friends. I know many of you had a great summer of dancing with us! It was so wonderful to see so many of you joining us in the studio this summer.

We are back and it is full steam ahead. We are so excited to see everyone. The teachers are full of energy and excitement for the 2017/18 season - our 19th year! I am also so excited and happy to see you all again. And I love watching dancers and families who are new to the studio come in and take class for the first time, and emerge from the studio with joy. That is the best! And to see the Ballare veterans reconnect with their friends in the lobby and in class. We have a great group of dancers and families here.

In closing I would like to say two things: 1. Please Read This Newsletter! There is important information. 2. If you ever have any questions or concerns, I want you to know you can contact me via e-mail at ann@ballareteatro.com, or call the studio at 612-721-8619. I am happy to help in any way.

Sincerely,
Ann Williams

September 25-October 1
Handbook cover Important info for you to be privy

Keeping you in the know is important to us here at Ballare Teatro. That is why we have a parent information night! Please come to class (whichever class is FIRST for level II-V) the week of September 25-October 1. Plan to stay for about 15 minutes so we can read over the handbook with you and answer any of your questions.

We look forward to seeing you all the week of September 25-October 1!

YES - Class over MEA
NO - Class on Halloween
Need we say more? We do have class over MEA break, but we DON'T have class on Halloween. If you are NOT going to be there (MEA), you need to let us know ASAP so we can plan our classes accordingly.

Another reason to stay in town for MEA - Twin Cities Tap Festival!
Master Classes, Concerts and Community - OH MY!
Love tap like we love tap?? Then you should definitely plan on attending the Twin Cities Tap Festival MEA weekend.

This festival was started and is produced by fabulous Ballare instructors - Kaleena Miller and Brenna Brelie!  Register early (by September 15) and save $25 on the registration fee. We are planning on taking a group - so if you want to come with Ballare dancers and receive even more savings through a group discount - sign up with Mia at the desk or send Ann an e-mail at ann@ballareteatro.com.

Hey Mom and Dad - You Should Dance, Too!
And with a deals like this - why not?!
Finally, two enticing deals to make it IRRESISTIBLE to take class. First, until the end of September, we have the 10 for 5 intro offer. That is 10 classes for $55 (Normally a 10 class card is $110). This deal is available for everyone - even veterans of our adult program, for the month of September.

But the beat (and the deals) go on - For every adult who has a dancer enrolled in either our Preschool Program or our Performing Arts Program, you will receive 25% off your class cards. This is a deal that IS NOT GOING AWAY! (It's about time, right Al and Danielle??) We love it when dance becomes a family affair!

Ballare Teatro Studio Hours

We wanted to touch base with all of our families, before the lovely Minnesota Winters set in, about studio hours. The studio is open for business 15 minutes prior to the first class each day. We don't have any staff there that is 'on the clock' until that time.

Please make note that the studio will remain locked until 15 minutes before classes begin.

On the flip side make sure that your dancer is in class on time. Dancers should be ready to enter the studio and dance at their class start time. When people arrive late, not only is it distracting for the dancers who were on time, but it throws a wrench in your child's dance education. They are not getting properly warmed up. It is studio policy that if a dancer is more than 10 minutes late to class would be asked to sit out.

We understand that sometimes things come up that prevent you from getting to the studio on time (and on time means a little early so dancers can get changed, their shoes on and use the restroom). But please make every effort to get your dancer into the classroom at the start of their class.

Tap Into Nutrition

As the weather gets colder there's just nothing better than a big pot of soup or chili.  (Well except maybe a big pot of chili, a handmade quilt and a lap cat too.)  In any case, having that soup or chili ready for you to eat and filling the house with wonderful smells when you arrive home is an extra bonus!  I love to make this Vegetarian Chili in my crockpot and have it ready after work and between the kids' extracurricular events.  Toss a quick side salad together and you have a nice, quick, nutritious meal that everyone will love.

Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili with Quinoa
1 large onion, peeled and chopped
1 poblano pepper, seeded and diced
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 (28 oz.) can Fire Roasted diced tomatoes
1 (28 oz.) can water
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
2 (15 oz.) cans chili beans
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon coriander
1 - 2 teaspoons Himalayan salt (more or less to taste)
½ teaspoon chili flakes (more or less to taste)
2 cups cooked quinoa

Add all ingredients to a slow cooker, minus the quinoa, and turn on high. After 2 - 3 hours, turn the crock pot down to low and keep covered for another 4 - 6 hours.
(Alternately, you could just leave the slow cooker on low for 8 hours).  Before you're ready to serve, remove the lid and turn back to high for another 30 minutes. Stir in the quinoa, taste and adjust seasonings, and serve.
