TRAFFIC DETOURS
Delaware Avenue
June-October 2017

The Delaware Avenue Hamlet Streetscape Enhancement construction project will begin the week of June 5.  The $3.1 million project makes enhancements to Delaware Avenue from Adams  Street to Elsmere Avenue, and portions of Kenwood Avenue and Adams Street. These enhancements consist  of new sidewalks, crosswalks, curbing, on-street parking, new road pavement, street trees and decorative  lighting fixtures. Infrastructure improvements under the roadway will include new storm drains and a water  line replacement.

Construction is projected to extend to the end of 2017; minor restoration work and landscaping may be  necessary in the spring of 2018. T raffic and travel will be impacted - see below for important information.

Beginning in June construction will occur  M-F generally from 7:30am to 5:00pm and this portion of Delaware Avenue will only be  open to one lane of traffic in one direction. All other times of the day, the road is expected to be open to  two-way traffic. When Delaware Avenue is down to one lane, travel will be one way - either eastbound  towards Albany or westbound towards Town Hall. At these times, detours will be provided for travel in the  opposite direction, using either Hudson Avenue, or Kenwood Avenue
(during non-school hours).

DETOUR ROUTE MAPS

The Chamber is excited to be a part of a brand new initiative in town! Art on the Rail Trail (ART) is a new initiative designed to bring public art installations to the
Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail.
ART was conceived of as a means to enrich the lives of visitors to the Rail Trail and to encourage usage of the trail by local residents as well as regional visitors.

This new committee of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy is a collaboration between town residents, local non-profits, with town, county and Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce representation. While the ultimate goal is to see various mediums of art up and down the trail, the pilot project consists of one mural to be painted this year. The mural will be painted on the side wall of the town-owned building located at the intersection of the rail trail and Adams St.

Help them reach their fundraising goal of $10,000 -  for more information on the
project and ways you can help donate,  visit their website or connect on social media.
