Problems caused by wild cats running loose in New Hyde Park has gotten the backs up of a number of residents.
"It's constant. It can't get any worse than that you have to pick up after them in your backyard every day," said Guy Ferrer, a Central Boulevard resident.
Ferrer, 77, a 35-year resident of the village, said he thinks the problem has been getting noticeably worse over the past year.

Dems ask top court to stop GOP redistrict plan

The New York State Appellate Division Court last week upheld a controversial GOP redistricting plan that would reduce the number of Democratic incumbent districts in the Nassau County Legislature.
Both sides are due in the state's highest court Aug. 24 for an appeal filed by Democrats.

Dolphins visit Great Neck's shores

A pod of coastal bottlenose dolphins put on a spectacular show off the coast of the Village of Kings Point.

Great Neck was treated to a rare sight after a pod of coastal bottlenose dolphins made an appearance off the coast of the Village of Kings Point Sunday, August 7 at approximately 5 p.m.
In the area between Hart Island and Steppingstone Lighthouse, dolphins circled, came up to the surface, grouped together and broke away into smaller groups.
