Roses Love Houston

Dear Gardeners,

We had great fun last week with our "Spot the Typo" contest.  The winner of the lovely orchid was Karen Mann!  We even had a bonus typo that many of you spotted in this newsletter -- I said Easter was on April 3!  And it is in fact on April 8.  Thanks for being such good proofreaders!

Yes, you can grow roses in Houston.  In the past several years the folks at Texas A&M have selected roses that they have designated as "Earth Kind".  This award is determined through extensive research and field trials and includes only those roses demonstrating superior pest tolerance, combined with outstanding landscape performance. Click here for more on Earth Kind roses.  See below for information on our  Rose Event this Saturday.

St. Augustine sod arrives Friday.  Available for purchase & pick-up while supplies last.  Or you can reserve sod by clicking link below.

If the wonderful weather is not inspiration enough for you to start planning your gardening projects, I have a couple of links I found that should get the old juices flowing:  BloomIQ has lots of ideas and information and they are not selling anything!   The other is by Proven Winners, a well-known brand of plants that we carry.  Both these sites are bursting with wonderful images and ideas for your garden and containers!    (Note: as is true for most plant websites, not all plants mentioned thrive in Houston and may not be available here.)

Look for news next week on Gardener's Reward specials and more!

Happy Gardening!
