Dear Gardeners, It almost feels like spring today, Wednesday, as I am writing this. And I understand we are in for another cold snap Thursday night, so bundle up! Typical for January weather in Houston. Rest assured, we have not seen the last of winter yet. Two words: Frost Cloth. Nevertheless, we are receiving deliveries of our spring plants -- a few truckloads this week, a lot more in the weeks to come. We will scramble to protect them during freezing weather -- some get covered and some get hauled into our greenhouse. If you are unsure how to protect plants, or which ones to cover, just ask. We have lots of experience in this area! Hydroponics -- it's not just for hippies anymore. You really can grow herbs like cilantro and basil indoors all year round. Peppers and even tomatoes if you have the space. Our own Kevin Frazier is no stranger to indoor growing and will share his expertise this Saturday at 10 am. RSPV here. We are very excited to have Heidi Sheesley from Treesearch Farms come to speak the following Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10 am. Heidi will focus on trees -- native trees, ornamental trees and fruit trees. Her excitement and enthusiasm for plants is absolutely contagious. Prepare to be inspired! RSVP here. Events Calendar - check out more lectures and workshops for January and February. Now accepting applications for spring -- full- and part-time positions. We offer flexible schedules, a fast-paced environment and lots of fun! Ready to get rid of that ratty old poinsettia?
