Dear Gardeners,

Being an expert procrastinator, I often forget small details like running "spell check" before I hit the send button.  Well, that's exactly what happened when I was creating this week's ad for the Chronicle.   Did you know we have an ad in the Chronicle every Thursday?  Hint:  it's in the neighborhood section (zones 9, 10 & 12).

Anyway, I thought I had all my Ts crossed, but I misspelled an important word and it was too late to fix it.  Lucky for you!  If you can (1) find the ad in today's paper, (2) figure out which word is misspelled, (3) be the first to come in and tell us the proper spelling, you win a free orchid!  Even if you are not the first one, you'll win a lovely prize just for playing "Spot the Typo"!

Hope your Valentines Day was all you expected!   Maybe you even received an orchid as a gift.  Now what?  If you are wondering how to care for your orchid, or you would like to have orchids and are afraid they are too difficult, come to "Orchids Are Easy" this Saturday at 10 am.  Jay Balchan, president of the Houston Orchid Society will allay your fears.  RSVP here.  See link below for more info.

Wildflowers -- we all love them!  They are just right for containers because you can switch them out with summer color when they finish blooming.  Paula Mabrey is our new Container Designer and she has created some fabulous combinations that you are sure to love.  Come in and see.

Can you believe it's almost Mardi Gras?  That means Easter is early this year -- April 3.  Ever wonder why Easter is on a different date every year?  FYI, Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox.  Try to work that into the conversation at the Mardi Gras party.

Happy Gardening!
