At Center for Literacy we see first-hand the immigrant influx in the City of Philadelphia and now have overflowing classrooms, with foreign-born residents desperately wanting to increase their English-speaking skills, and seeking a new and better life in the United States. As a volunteer tutor, you will have an opportunity to create a difference in the lives of the adult students that are new to our country. We provide comprehensive tutor training for new volunteers. Latasha Williamson: Proud Daughter and Proud Mommy
At age 33, Latasha Williamson was the last child in her family to get a high school diploma. Her three siblings graduated on time. She made up for it by getting a college degree. Latasha grew up in Logan with a single mother who worked hard to provide for the family. She dropped out of school at an early age and had her first child when she was 17.
