I hope you were able to come out to Coastal Cleanup Day this year. Spending those few hours taking care of the coast and inland shorelines feels good - it's a very simple, very direct way to join with others to have a positive impact. If you didn't make it out or just want more, check out the Adopt-A-Beach Program. A lot of locations have monthly "drop in" cleanups.
The COAST 4U quarterly is all about giving readers ways to connect with the coast and ocean - through art, quizzes, videos, stories, and by showcasing opportunities for in-person connections. Do you have a story idea? We'd love to hear.

If you do have a chance, don't miss the storm drain murals, initiated by the City of Arcata and funded by a Whale Tail® grant. They're beautiful, educational paintings calling attention to how litter reaches our water ways. Painted by a group of "Watershed Warrior" youth artists in addition to artists chosen through competition, the murals can be found using a downloadable walking brochure, which includes pollution prevention tips and shows you how each storm drain connects to Humboldt Bay.
