Go Local!

It took a while, but we finally received a box of Dishing Up Marylandcookbooks (by Lucie L. Snodgrass). Here is a cookbook that celebrates our local bounty of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood and wine - as well as some of our favorite restaurants. A portion of the $19.95 cost supports CSBA (Chesapeake Sustainable Business Alliance).

We are loaded with great options for turkey wine - bubbly, white, pink, red, dry, sweet - whatever you love to drink with turkey, we've got it. Not sure what you want to drink with turkey? Just ask us, we'll be happy to help you pick the perfect wine.

The first wine I'll be sipping on Thanksgiving will be Champagne. We are proud to focus our selection on the little guys in Champagne - small negociants like Moutard, Louis de Sacy and Alfred Gratien; and even smaller estate-bottlers like Pierre Paillard, Paul Bara and Egly-Ouriet.

Our fusti of Laconiko olive oil has been refilled - to the brim!
Wine of the Week:
Alsace, France
Pinot Blanc '09 Vieilles Vignes
Riesling '09 Reserve
meyer fonne family and friends
Thanksgiving is upon us, and instead of focusing on preparing the perfect turkey, you're anxious about choosing the wine to serve with it. Relax! Drink what you love - or come see us, and we'll help you pick the perfect turkey wine(s). Or just grab a few Meyer-Fonn wines - either one of these will sing on turkey day.

The Meyer-Fonn family has been growing grapes and making wine in Alsace since the early 20th century. Aside from family members, the domaine has two permanent employees. In other words, this is a small family-owned farm, and they make beautifully balanced, delicious, reasonably priced wine.

Tasting Notes:
Pinot Blanc '09 Vieilles Vignes - Lovely - juicy/blossom/vanilla/orange smells and flavors - delicious. $21

Riesling '09 Reserve - Beautifully crisp, sappy/floral/peach smells and dry, lively flavors. $23
