Church Leaders to Gather at the Capitol for Weekly Prayer in Action
The Kentucky Council of Churches is hosting Prayer in Action Days at the State Capitol each Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. during the 2017 General Assembly Session to pray for government officials and act on behalf of Kentucky's most vulnerable citizens.  Beginning January 10, each Prayer in Action event will focus on a different social issue like minimum wage, justice reform, healthcare, and gun violence.  The Kentucky Council of Churches chooses the issues based on policy statements approved by all eleven of the Council's denominational members. The membership includes Protestant and Roman Catholic congregations. The Council works with other state advocacy groups and coalitions on these issues, and many of them have committed to support the Prayer in Action Days.

All Prayer in Action events are interfaith and open to the public and media. For more information contact the Kentucky Council of Churches at KCC@kycouncilofchurches.org,859-269-7715, or visit our website: www.kycouncilofchurches.org.
Engaging Older Adults
The Christian Church In Kentucky, in partnership with Christian Care Communities, is launching a new ministry focused on older adults. We are calling this new initiative in order to resource pastors and lay leaders in their call to:
1) provide meaningful ministry opportunities with older adults
2) draw older adults into CCK congregations to be a part of these meaningful, life-giving ministries
3) train, equip and resource volunteers to respond to the unique but prevalent needs that come with aging for members of our churches and their families.

We know there must be a lot of great ministry happening already. Please take a few moments and to share with us what is happening in your congregation. Help us build our network and information base so that together we can be much more effective in this ministry and mission of engaging older adults.

Young Adult Opportunities
NBA XPLOR is a 10-month Residency for young adults exploring the intersections between the life of faith and the work of justice. Now in its third year, the program provides professional development and vocational discernment opportunities for 21- to 30-year-olds who live simply in community and engage in direct service and justice work. NBA XPLOR Residents serve with host communities across the country-rich collaborations between Disciples regions, congregations, spiritual companions, and local nonprofits serving together.

Faith the Size of a Mustard Seed  shows that our faith, though it may start out very small, can grow! In the devotional booklet, you will find daily meditations and prayers that explore the theme of how faith has grown, and the circumstances that brought that growth, written by people of deep and abiding faith: pastors and laypersons from many Christian traditions.
