MESSAGES FROM THE MAYOR
Clawson has been nominated to win a concert by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for September 2013. The DTE Energy foundation is sponsoring the performance that includes one full DSO residency during the 2012-13 season, library visit and school visit in addition to the free community concert. Everyone is asked to google DTE Energy Foundation DSO to vote and comment on our favorite venue (Clawson). Voting ends June 18th. Vote one time or a hundred. Voting is a two step process. Once on the site, click the button for Oakland County, submit, then scroll to the bottom of the page to enter Clawson into the comments. Clawson would welcome a concert by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra with enthusiasm, cheers, smiles and open arms. The concert will be at the high school. Music impacts our personal lives and our community's ability to grow and thrive. Art, culture, education and recreational opportunities are reasons people choose to remain involved in the life of a city. The DSO concert is an opportunity to expand our creativity, inspire children and adults, provide entertainment and enrich our lives. We are beginning to grow an audience dedicated to cultural arts within our community and a community concert is the stimulus to reach great heights and build in core values of art appreciation. Our competition in Oakland County for the DSO concert is Berkley, Clarkston, Farmington Hills, Novi, Birmingham, Southfield and White Lake.
We are in the beginning stages of building an art and culture community group. The DIA Inside Out program will place five pieces of art in Clawson in the fall.
4th of July events will include old fashioned games for the kids from 2-4pm, kids garage sale on June 30th, park rides on the 3rd 3-9pm, the parade, crafts, waterbattles, and fireworks will take place on the 4th
