CAM / BIA Mid-Year Economic Forecast and State of the Industry Breakfast: Rakolta, Jr. and Wortley Confirmed
John Rakolta, Jr., Chairman and CEO of Walbridge, Detroit, and W. Jay Wortley, Director of the Office of Revenue and Tax Analysis, State of Michigan, have been confirmed as keynote speakers for the CAM / BIA Mid-Year Economic Forecast and State of the Industry Breakfast. This 2nd Annual event will be held on Tuesday, June 26th at the Best Western Sterling Inn in Sterling Heights from 7:30 am - 10:30 am.
Find out what is being done to re-energize our state and get its economic engine firing on all cylinders again!
There will also be 40 vendor tabletop displays to explore.

CAM Construction Activity Index Recap for April 2012
According to the latest tabulations of the CAM Construction Activity Index (CAI) - an ongoing survey of the CAM membership regarding the state of the construction industry - April construction activity index analysis shows in-house business conditions continue to improve.

CAM May Sporting Clays a Huge Success 
CAM's first Sporting Clays event of 2012 was a huge success; beautiful mild temperatures and a great turnout helped make the day enjoyable.
95 shooters participated on the course at the Detroit Gun Club on the afternoon of May 23rd.
The Lewis Class system was used for scoring; the following were the four winners in four classes:
- Class 1 - Jeffrey Sanster
- Class 2 - John Slifeo
- Class 3 - Dick Zimmerman
- Class 4 - Mike Stwtenberg
After the shoot a great steak dinner was served, and the day concluded with awards, door prizes, and casual networking. The next CAM Sporting Clays event will be held on Tuesday, September 25th at Hunters Creek Club in Metamora. For more information, please click here.

CAMSafety Tool Box Talk - Preventing Heat Illness 
Training is crucial to construction safety, and the cornerstone of that training is the CAM Tool Box Talk. These short, job specific training sessions kick the day off to a safe start every time.
The CAMSafety Committee has been working on developing a set of Tool Box Talks to help our Members keep their employees safe on the job. As these documents are developed, we will post them on the CAM website and in this CAM E-Newsletter.

MIOSHA Available for Voluntary Worksite Inspections 
Michigan employers may request a voluntary MIOSHA inspection of their workplace (full or partial) without the attachment of fines or penalties. These free on-site consultations are conducted by occupational safety consultants or industrial hygienists through the Consultation, Education and Training (CET) onsite consultation program.

Support the Boy Scouts with CAM at the Eighth Annual Building Connections
The 8th Annual Boy Scouts Building Connections Networking Event will be held on the evening of Thursday, September 20, 2012.
This year's exciting venue is the Ford Model T Automotive Heritage Complex on Piquette Avenue in Detroit. Tour the birthplace of the Model T and the first factory that Henry Ford ever built (in 1904); learn about the rich heritage of the Ford Automobile Company; experience Model T exhibits and displays; network with others in the construction industry and support a very worthy cause.

Proceeds raised throughout the evening will go to benefit the Boy Scouts of America, Great Lakes Council. Individual tickets are available, as are several levels of sponsorship. More information will be forthcoming. Contact Gregg Montowski at CAM (248) 972-1000.

CAM Member Clark Construction Company Honors Jacki Hilgendorf 
Clark Construction Company, Lansing, recently presented employee Jacki Hilgendorf with the John M. Clark Service Award during the company's Annual Meeting / Safety Seminar on May 3 at the Clark Construction Headquarters.
Hilgendorf is currently the project manager for the St. Johns Public Schools Bond Program. She has over 20 years of construction experience, including the past 11 years at Clark. She has extensive experience working at on-site locations and an emphasis on K-12 projects. She has serviced public school projects in East Lansing, Haslett, Howell, Grand Ledge, Alma and Fowlerville.
The John M. Clark Service Award is presented annually to the Clark employee who demonstrates exceptional work ethic, service, and dedication on behalf of the company and its customers. This award is recognized as the company's highest honor.
Clark Construction Company was founded in 1946 and is ranked as one of the top 400 CM firms in the nation by Engineering News Record. The firm is headquartered in Lansing and maintains a southeast Michigan office in Southfield.
