Greetings!

What a glorious beginning to summer!  A birthday party and barbeque, fireworks, a trip to the beach, planting and some tree removal.  The weather sure cooperated with our weekend plans and those of a few of our customers who were attending weddings and family reunions.  Let's hope that most of our summer is as nice as this but if not we've got you covered at your local Craft Store and will make sure you stay busy!

Blog Challenge!

Have you entered our latest challenge?

Entries are starting to come in for our latest challenge and are being posted on our Blog.  This one is a simple one - create a craft project (card, scrapbook layout, etc.) using the colours shown on our blog (don't you love the colours we've chosen...again!) as well as a border punch.  Deadline for entries into our random draw is next Monday July 11th at 5pm.

Upcoming Community Fundraiser
Don't miss it this Saturday.

We always like to support local community fundraising events but this one strikes a personal chord for Lilian and I, as it does for the owners of Back Country Paintball... that's not to say that you'll see us actually actively participating!  For more details Click HERE to visit Back Country Paintball's website.

Scrapbooking / Photo Tip

This is the time of year when many of us are going on vacation or at least taking a day trip or two.  As we are snapping photos of the memories we're making, something to remember is the "rule of thirds".  In this case the rule of thirds applies to the type of photos we take and making sure that the content includes photos of who we were with, where we went and the things we saw.  Click HERE for a complete explanation of how to "tell your story better with photos"!

Do You Have Some Extra Time?

One of our crafty ladies is looking for your help!  Most recently Evelyn Brown has been involved in the development and implementation of the 211 Information and Referral Service here in Muskoka.

211 is a new 24/7 information service that is expanding across Ontario and Canada.  211 is free to call and will help people find services in their community that may not be listed in a phone book such as food banks, flu clinic dates, clubs etc.

Unfortunately Lilian and I will not be attending the Craft and Hobby Association's show in Chicago this year.  But that doesn't mean there's nothing to get excited about!  The internet is an amazing tool and while we don't get the "touchy-feely" experience of actually being there we will get to see all that's new.

Slowly we are receiving updates of new product releases which will carry us through to Christmas. Two companies that we know will get many of our customers excited are Basic Grey and Spellbinders.  Click HERE to link to the Basic Grey website where you will see the new lines being introduced.  Also, keep an eye on the Spellbinders blog for their Blog Party starting this Thursday July 7th where they will release some of their 52 , yes that's not a turned around number, 52 new dies!

Just a reminder ... these are sneak peeks at these products.  The CHA show does not begin until July 19th and then the actual shipment of the products will carry through to Christmas - what a tease!   Many of our customers will bring in a list of products they are interested in and we'll order them in for them to see..why don't you see what interests you and let us know.

Happy Crafting!
