Childhood Cancer Awareness
DC Candlelighters joined hundreds of childhood cancer advocates and organizations Sept. 19 and 20 for CureFest, an annual weekend dedicated to raising awareness and funding for childhood cancer research. We were delighted to have many of you stop by our tent on the Mall Sunday!

Night of Golden Lights event this weekend!
Due to a scheduling error by the Secret Service, the Night of Golden Lights event in Lafayette Square was cancelled at the last minute. The agency apologized for the error and the National Park Service issued a new permit for the event, to take place Saturday, Oct. 17 from 6:30 p.m. -- 8:00 p.m. in Lafayette Square in front of the White House.

Families are encouraged to attend the event, which includes music, dance and poetry, and culminates in a candle light vigil in front of the White House. To help organizers plan and ensure enough candles for all participants, please RSVP as soon as possible to: 
Not able to attend in person? Have your own vigil by lighting a candle at 7:40 PM in your time zone on October 17. Please e-mail so organizers can keep track of the number of vigils taking place across the country. The goal is to have one hundred or more!

The Capital Wheel Goes Gold
The Capital Wheel at National Harbor went GOLD for childhood cancer awareness on September 29 and 30, joining iconic landmarks and buildings around the world. The Capitol Wheel is the first landmark in the Washington, D.C., area to light up gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness month!

Taugate 2015 Events Free to
DC Candlelighters Families 

DC Candlelighters is excited to announce that we've been chosen as the beneficiary of Delta Tau Delta fraternity's annual fall philanthropy project, Delt's Taugate. All proceeds raised during Taugate 2015 will directly benefit DC Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. 

All Delt's Taugate events take place at The George Washington University (GWU) Oct. 15 -- 18. Campus sororities will be participate in a variety of competitions throughout the weekend, culminating in
the Capitol Cornhole Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 18.  

There is no charge for DC Candlelighters Families to attend the Parents Weekend Cookout on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 12:00 p.m. -- 5:00 p.m. at the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house (526 22nd St., NW) or the Capitol Cornhole Tournament at noon on Sunday, Oct. 18, in University Yard GWU.  Bring your family and friends and support Delta Tau Delta's efforts to support kids with cancer and their families!   
Last Chance for Tickets to attend Masquerade Ball    

The A&D Terry Cancer Charity invites you to join them at the Rockledge Mansion in Occoquan, Virginia, for a festive fall evening benefiting DC Candlelighters on Friday, Oct. 23, from 7:00 p.m. --  11:00 p.m.

The $50 per person ticket price includes dinner by Georgetown Caterers, cash bar, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, live entertainment, dancing and fun surprises! Children are welcome and those under 15 are free!

DC Candlelighters 6th Annual Halloween Party October 27 

If  your chi ld could be anyone, who would it be? A princess? Spiderman? And who would they want you to be? Whether you dress as a Super Hero or the Super Parent you are every day, join us at 6:00 p.m. on Oct. 27  for dinner, treats, games and not-too-spooky fun!

To RSVP, please send by email to DC Candlelighters  by Sunday, Oct. 25. Include the words "Halloween Party" in the subject line and be sure to include  the names and ages of all family members attending.

The American Childhood Cancer Organization is thrilled to announce this year's National Childhood Cancer Awareness Tree! Your $5 donation buys a beautiful gold ribbon bearing the name of your childhood cancer fighter, survivor or angel that will be displayed on the tree.
