Meet the New Guy!
Randy Anderson is getting ready to line up some fantastic programming for Dakota CC as the opening of the new fieldhouse moves ever closer.
Dakota's newest addition is a man with a plan, and he has an impressive resume to back it up! Over the course of his career, Anderson has applied his physical education background to a variety of leadership, managerial, and development roles including the Toronto Pan/Parapan Am Games, Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba, Sport Manitoba, and more.
"We were looking for the right individual with a wealth of experience in the world of sports management; someone who could take immediate ownership of the role and begin leveraging networks," said Michele Augert, Dakota's Chief Executive Officer. "Randy has hit the ground running and we're excited about the possibilities that someone with his sport pedigree can bring to our Centre."
Our new Program Director jumped at the chance to apply for this position, realizing it matched perfectly with his professional background as well as his desire to apply his wealth of knowledge and experience to making a difference at the grassroots level of sport and recreation in a community setting.
"The timing of this was very fortunate! I want to be a catalyst for the enhanced level of programs and services that Dakota is capable of providing," said Anderson of his new role.
Anderson joins Dakota CC with a multitude of achievements and a history of getting things done. Among his many accomplishments, he served as the Manager of Sport for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan Am Games, where he recruited, trained, and organized more than 200 volunteers. As the General Manager of the Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba (CSCM), he led and significantly grew the organization to provide increased service to high performance athletes and coaches. With Sport Manitoba, he worked to establish all aspects of the new organization
Coaching Manitoba, providing enhanced coaching education in the Province. As the Manager of Sport for the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Anderson played a key role in hosting one of Canada's largest and successful sporting events. With involvement and passion in many sports and recreation activities, Anderson is also a volleyball enthusiast and nationally recognized professional in this sport. His team was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2015.
Anderson's impressive career began close to where he works today - , as a physical education teacher at neighbouring Dakota Collegiate. With more credentials, sport management experience, achievements, and volunteer roles than we have space to list, Dakota is very fortunate to have someone of Randy's caliber leading our programming at this critical juncture and towards our exciting future.
"I am thrilled to be here; it may be corny but it's true! Just to be able to contribute to the mission and vision of an organization like this, I'm just so thrilled to be able to contribute."
Dakota is thrilled with Randy too, and looking forward to all that he brings as a key member of the Dakota team, Welcome, Randy!
