GET YOUR GOAT names ready. This Friday night at the Virden Farmers Market (north edge of town on Rt. 4) young goats will make their debut and you can take part in giving them names.
Actual color may vary!

There'll be names selected and then those receiving the most votes will be the ones used. Come prepared with your most imaginative names! You won't see this at the Spfld Farmers Market, no siree!

Owner Spotlight
If you've had work done by us you have probably met Patty Brockmeyer when the work crew arrived at your job site. She's the one dishing out orders and the go-to person for the duration of each project. Demanding and respected are two easy words to conjur up when describing Patty.
Patty on the job
Patty
You'll see her pitching in; no task is too big or small for her to manage or tackle. When all is said and done Patty is the last to leave a site, assuring satisfaction, one last check for trash or tools left, and, sure, maybe taking a photo or two for the staff back at the nursery.
Speaking of nurseries...ours is open and YOU are welcome to visit us!
Greetings!
Anybody out there hot? How about wet? What a summer of discontent we've had and it certainly means we've shuffled projects, plants, and people. We smile and go forward.
This does provide pause, however, and we feel an obligation to you loyal folks to say a few words such as "shade tree", "underground drainage tile", "natural water runoff design", and "mulch". Although these others have nothing to do with us, we add, "lemonade stand", "umbrella", and "air conditioning".
In the meantime, get the dirt below.
What goes in must come out and with our very own soil pulverizing equipment and driver we are making some fine top soil.
Just about all of you can relate to how we acquired this equipment. You're driving along and you see something in front of another property. It's for sale (or if you're having a great day, it's free. Such was not the case for us.) You think, perhaps aloud, "I've always wanted a ___. Think I'll check it out."
It happened to us. It wasn't a boat or a motorcycle. It was a soil pulverizer! Surprised? Probably not. But, it took some doing to cut the deal, get the equipment checked out, confirm that (once again) Jeff does know what he is doing, and get him started on playing in the dirt.
The dirt goes in!

What does this mean to you, our valued customers? Several things:
  • We have ready to go top soil.
  • Our costs are better managed.
  • The quality control we demand is there and is
  • our responsibiity.
  • Time management is improved.
  • Employee development and local economic impacts are all positive!
It's a dirty job, and yes, somebody has to do it. Better us than you!
There is still time to put together a fabulous plan for a great looking fall yard, garden area, or a stamped concrete edging area. How about a fire pit for those long-awaited cool evenings? Weiners roasting, marshmallows perfected just in time for S'mores. Before you know it we'll be in "sweater time". Don't we have something to help you get ready? Ah, the Great Outdoors - it's yours to enjoy!
