Train Smart: A Program for Beginning Runners
jogging-ladies.jpg

Spring has finally sprung!  If you took the winter off or you are feeling the urge to start running for the first time, here are some tips and a link to an excellent 8-week training program.

Take it easy:  Try a progressive program that begins with more walking than running, then moves gradually into more running than walking.

Set attainable goals:  Keep yourself motivated by setting short-term goals like run a mile without stopping.  Once you are able to run the mileage you desire without stopping, focus on running three to four days per week.

Budget Time: Life happens, and we get busy fast so be sure to schedule your running time ahead.  Be disciplined with your training.  It will pay off in the long run.

Remember-foot pain is NOT normal: If you experience any persistent or severe pain, contact a podiatrist for evaluation.  Jogging should not hurt.
