Wyoming Area Branch Librarian Retires

Rebecca Hostetler, Wyoming Area Branch Librarian, for the past 5 years retired from her position on April 30, 2014.  Rebecca began her career at ECRL at a reference assistant at the Cambridge Public Library in 2007 and then moved to position of Branch Librarian at the Wyoming Area Library in 2009.

While at the Wyoming Area Library, she was instrumental in implementing the rain garden and stepping stone projects outside the library.  Outreach was also very important to Rebecca.  While at Wyoming Area Library, she worked with Meadows on Fairview on inter-generational programming and started the Christmas Giving Tree project with Chisago County Health and Human Services.

Rebecca plans on enjoying her retirement by getting in a "lot of fishing."  All of us at ECRL wish her the best.  The search for a new Branch Librarian for the library is underway.

ECRL Received LSTA Mini Grant

The Minnesota Department of Education recently awarded ECRL a Play and Learn Space LSTA Competitive Mnii Grant.

The funds received will be used to install a Play and Learn Space in the Cambridge Public Library for young children and focus on early literacy skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and role-playing.  The theme of the grant project reflects the City of Cambridge's motto, "Opportunity Community." The area will include a puppet theater, career costumes and more.  It will be in place by October 1, 2014.
