Update from Mo Lyn

Lyn and Cabbage

A number of you have asked how Mo Lyn is doing. Here is an update in her own words!

 ------------------------

Just a note to thank you all so much for the notes, emails, texts, and words of encouragement. And I know I wouldn't be doing as well as I am without your prayers! My surgical wounds are almost healed and I have completed the radiation treatments that followed my surgeries. That was quite a grueling time and I am glad it is over. I would so appreciate your prayers for relief of nausea, headaches and lack of energy. Thank you so much. I will see you in August.

Much love,

Mo. Lyn

Deanery Fiesta BBQ!

Deanery BBQ

Ken Merrell's Memorial on Saturday

Ken Merrell

We give thanks for the life of Lyla's husband Ken. His presence on our bus trips and gardening gifts at Emmanuel will be treasured. Here is a overview of his life that the family has put together.

--------------------------------

Kenneth Coffin Merrell of Brea, California passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family July 8, 2012.  A native Southern Californian born in 1929, he served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean conflict as an aircraft mechanic.  An avid reader of all things "how to" and history, Ken was known as a creative guy who could fix, design or engineer just about anything.  His amazing green thumb produced beautiful roses, fruit and vegetables enjoyed by all.  He was also an accomplished wood worker crafting gorgeous furniture, cabinetry and various re-modeling projects around his home.  After a stellar engineering career which includes U.S. Patents to his credit in electrical instrumentation, he spent his retirement years enjoying his home, family, hobbies, travel, playing golf with his wife Lyla of nearly 59 years, their friends and numerous lifelong golfing buddies.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Lyla Merrell, sister Carolyn Nash (Savery Nash), son Steven Merrell (Jenise Merrell), daughter Elisa Merrell, 4-grandchildren; Kelly Merrell, Christopher Merrell, Garrick Merrell (Monica Merrell), Amanda Merrell-Goncalves (Joao Goncalves) and 5-great grandchildren; Sophia, Kodi, Savannah, Chase and Stacie.

A Celebration of Ken's life will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday July 21 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church 1145 W. Valencia Mesa Dr. Fullerton, CA.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Driveway problem

"By jove, I think we've found the root of the problem!"

Here is a photo Fred captured of the culprit for our driveway bump. Special thanks to the Emmanuel couple who donated the money for the repair and to Fred who supervised the excellent reconstruction. Come Sunday and see!
